❤️ Yesterday, we welcomed 18 wonderful Veterans who worked at Bletchley Park during WW2 to return to the once top-secret site for the Annual Veterans’ Reunion. Aged between 97 to (almost) 102, Veterans enjoyed an afternoon tea in the Mansion, spending time together, with family

May 1944, 79 years ago, over 2 million men waited for D-Day on the south coast. In the run up to D-Day, Bletchley Park played an integral role in the success of Operation Overlord, creating detailed intelligence reports which aided Allied preparations.

This is an Enigma machine. More specifically, it's a modified Army & Air Force Enigma I. The Enigma I was the most common model of Enigma in use by the Germans during WW2. But this specific machine is a rare survivor, due to its modifications. #Enigma #BletchleyPark

On this day in 2013, Alan Turing was given a posthumous royal pardon for his 1952 conviction of gross indecency. You can see a signed copy of the apology letter from the then Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, in our Museum in Block B ⬇️

On this day, 30 Oct 1942, German U-559 was attacked in the western Mediterranean and began to sink. As it's crew abandoned ship, three crewmen from HMS Petard, Lt. Antony Fasson, Able Seaman Colin Grazier and Canteen Assistant Tommy Brown, swam towards it.

We were delighted to welcome two of our Veterans, Charlotte 'Betty' Webb and Arthur Maddocks, to Bletchley Park yesterday! Charlotte indexed German signals and paraphrased Japanese signals. Arthur worked on the Lorenz cipher used by German high command in the Testery in Block F.
