During D-Day, Kenneth landed on the beaches of Normandy. "A shell came in. My foot was hanging by bits of skin. At the hospital, they amputated. I was more worried about losing my girlfriend than my leg." Ken and Vera celebrated 75 years of marriage. He passed away at 99.

Vincent landed on Juno Beach during D-Day. 9 days after the landing, Vincent stepped on a mine. "The Germans started to shell me, so I switched routes – and that’s when I was blown up by a landmine and lost both my legs. He passed away in 2017. We will remember him🎖🇬🇧

Former Royal Marine Lee Spencer lost his leg in a road accident in 2014. He was struck by debris from a car engine after he stopped to help an injured motorist. In 2019, he shattered 3 world records while rowing solo across the Atlantic, breaking able-bodied records. 🙌

John Booth survived having both legs amputated with a saw without anaesthetic when he was a Prisoner Of War. Working on the Burmese railway, he developed tropical ulcers on both legs after suffering insect bites and bamboo scratches that turned septic. #VJ75 #VJDay

Michael was just 16 when he joined the Army. The paratrooper was on tour in Afghanistan when he was hit in a battle with the Taliban. He lost his leg below the knee. In 2019, Mike had his first boxing match against an able-bodied opponent and has raised thousands for charity. 🥊

Private Arnold Loosemore. He found his way under enemy fire and killed 20 enemies. In doing this he was discovered by 3 Germans. He managed to take out all three, and continue the fight. Before the war ended Arnold was shot in his left leg, which resulted in its amputation. 🎖️

Andy lost his arm and both legs in Afghanistan after stepping on an IED. Alex, then 18, rushed to his aid. 10 years on, last year Andy found out Alex was homeless. He has since helped him get back on his feet. #ThursdayMotivation

This weekend Stu is taking on the @LondonMarathon for @Blesma Whilst serving in Afghanistan, he was injured after stepping onto an anti-personnel mine. This was following an attempt to save a comrade who had also stood on a mine. He received the Queen’s Gallantry Medal 🎖️

Working amid terrible conditions in the field during the Falklands War , Surgeon Capt Rick Jolly, from Cornwall treated 590 personnel in both sides and saved the life of every single serviceman he treated. RIP to this inspiring man.
