Because Ray defended carbs as main fuel, some people think that he also defended insulin, and that insulin must be good. Not true. Excess of insulin is very dangerous! Read the screencaps! Unless you are bodybuilder or athlete your needs for it are vanishingly low!

Body fat: 1. Increases free fatty acids => Reduces glucose metabolism, less CO2 2. Highest concentration of aromatase => Increases estrogen, less androgens Least peaty tissue by far. Unless you are underweight you will benefit from cutting excess body fat

Ray Peat: "These newer molecular approaches to the study of biology are vindicating some of the practical observations of plant and animal breeders, and terms such as telegony, heterosis, and xenia might come into common use again, along with genomic imprinting"

The evolutionary potential of humans is frustrated by our need to respond and adapt to stress. If we learn to overcome or eliminate it, we can increase our most human features like intense metabolism, playfulness, and flexibility.

Brain energy production directly predicts fluid intelligence. Anything that increases the energetic efficiency of neurons will help you solve problems and adapt to novel circumstances.

If you are losing fat, caffeine and activated charcoal are absolutely essential Fat loss liberated stored chemicals. The liver needs to process (glucuronidate, sulfate, etc) these toxins and excrete them Caffeine induces liver detox enzymes. AC binds the toxins in the GI tract

Low-carb scam: Wanna lose weight? Become a "fat burner." But... Mice genetically forced to burn fat like crazy lose no extra weight. LOL The only thing high levels of fat burning are associated with is disease. Avoid! Burn sugar, eat tasty things => be lean and energetic.

As strange as it sounds, the human body treats opiates like endotoxin. Corollary I: Naltrexone blocks many of endotoxin's bad effects Corollary II: The endogenous opiates are just as bad as exogenous ones, and contribute to many diseases

The "love hormone" seems to be behaving like a stress hormone. This makes sense since Oxytocin is related to Vasopressin, a classical stress hormone.

Biohackers think that they invented L-theanine + Caffeine in the 21st century. But Pavlov was combining Bromide (a sedative) with Caffeine 100 years earlier and getting the same results.

Ray experimented with taking Ephedra (a stimulant) at night to keep blood sugar up! This is the kind of spirit we need when experimenting. A crazy idea may just be what works best.

A doctor uses low T3 as a marker for "compliance" to a low-carb diet. Carb-eaters trip his "BS detector" because their serum thyroid is too high.

@KetoCarnivore Yep. I use FT3 in bloodwork as my BS detector to see whether people are consistent with a low carb diet. Generally 3.0 is the cut off point. Above is a higher carb diet and lower than 3.0 is a lower carb diet. Doesn’t work well if someone has hypo or hyperthyroid.

Mice can have a metabolic rate that is as much as 30% different. This explains why some people lose weight without effort. If your metabolic rate is 30% higher, a mild caloric deficit is all that is needed. This is why fixing metabolism comes before a caloric deficit
