@_slimarella_ i’m also extremely tired of the narrative that you HAVE to forgive someone to heal correctly. you can acknowledge what someone did and how it affected you without forgiving them. you can even accept someone’s apology w/o forgiving them. forgiveness ≠ necessary.

@_slimarella_ my main problem with forgiveness is that it is usually used for the antagonists’ peace of mind. white ppl sold forgiveness and the bible to soothe and pacify slaves out of fear. it’s not that ppl feel like forgiveness will help you 100% of the time, they fear you will eventually.
