Today is a major day in my NUFC support! 70 years ago today on 16.09.53 I saw my first 1st team game at SJP. I had only seen reserve or Gateshead matches before that. Close to 58,000 and a 3-7 hammering off WBA. Better result later hopefully.

I used to consider myself a bit of a pessimist when discussing NUFC. After reading ‘fan views’ on Miggy, the Palace deal blah blah blah etc I’m now in the ‘top 10% positive’ sector! In Nov 2021 we were bottom with 7 points and deservedly so! Get a grip!

In July 2020 I stood at losses at The Etihad and Watford in a week. We sat in the bottom half of the league. City murdered us as I expected. We were bumbling along. Those who were unhappy yesterday need to look back a few years.

54 years ago today I took Anne to her first SJP game. She was late to Worswick St so I missed the start and we went into Gallowgate Paddock. Two down at HT but a screamer by Gibb and two from Pop gave us a 3-2 victory. Canny memories!!!
