Years ago, I started noticing that post-2016 America could best be divided into days that felt like SOUTHLAND TALES and days that felt like TRUE DETECTIVE season two. I put this theory of mine into words for the good folks at @mid_theory:

@kimikayuuga13 @BarryOnHere Obviously Brady in that game was vastly better than Mahomes this game, but the Eagles defense allowed 33 -- most times, that's enough for a team to win a Super Bowl! But in a pure QB-QB shootout Brady didn't win. That's different than your O-line being nonexistent.

@BarryOnHere The difference would be a situation like, say, the Eagles-Pats Super Bowl. That one should hang more on Brady because both defenses were not good, and he lost to Nick Foles in a shootout. Had the same happened here, this loss would hang worse on Mahomes.

Except this recycles the insanely dumb idea that making it to the Super Bowl and losing is worse than losing earlier in the playoffs.
This is an incredible 4 minutes by Tom Brady. Say what you want about him as an analyst, but he’s so much more comfy and informative in these settings. His emphasis on being prepared for the moment always comes through.

Had Kanye died in 2010, his achievements would have been immortal. Had he died in 2020, he would still have been a great man but flawed. But he isn’t dead yet. Alas, what can one say?

@peligrietzer Given my dual interest in analytic philosophy and literature he SHOULD be an author I like more given his background and some of his ideas, but much as I like many of his essays I mostly shrug with his fiction
