All the whining from Los Angeles today. The #Padres beat the Dodgers in four games. The Dodgers didn't "blow it." The rules didn't beat the Dodgers. The #Padres beat the Dodgers. Own it L.A.

I covered Hall of Famers Tony Gwynn and Trevor Hoffman. I’ve witnessed #padres and #Padres games since 1954. Still a short sample size, but Fernando Tatis Jr. the most exciting player I’ve ever seen in a #Padres uniform. Keep swinging away. Damn to all those “unwritten rules.”

Should be another MLB rule change next year. If you make challenge of pitcher like Showalter did and fail, it should lead to ejection. Showalter didn't approach umpires until after Musgrove completed warmups -- so Buck was going for maximum disruption. Do that and get tossed.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is an amazingly-gifted baseball player who will also be an All-Star for years to come. He's also 22. Any of you detractors out there remember the mistakes you made at 22? If you can't, you're lying to yourself. Fernando will be fine.

Plate umpire Chris Segal has twice penalized #Padres with bogus ball calls on a pair of pitches before both Dodger homers. Freeman should have been hitting 0-and-2. Muncy should have struck out. You have to be better than that to get an assignment like this.

Could care less about Chargers next coach, next first-round draft choice, next anything forever. #ChargersDeadToMe

Joe West is beyond arrogant. Long ago crossed into pompous incompetence. He could have just walked away there. But he wanted the confrontation. He is poster man for what is wrong with Major League umpiring. West called him out, then got mad at Green for being wrong.

I started listening to #Padres games in 1952 when my grandfather built me a crystal radio and #Padres station was only one I could receive. Been a #Padres fan ever since. Almost 70 years later, I can't say I've ever seen a #Padres team as exciting as the 2020 edition. Tune in!
