Leif Erikson (Lutheran) was there before Columbus and Vespucci.
@Catholic_bro Ironically if Catholics never found the land Protestants would never go there to begin with.

Legalistic religions and trying to outsmart God, name a better duo.
Fun fact. Capybaras are eaten during Lent in Venezuela because they are considered “fish” by the Vatican. Sometime between the XVI and XVIII centuries, Venezuelan clergymen wrote to the Vatican with a special request. They had discovered an animal that lived in water, had

No Protestant country ever persecuted Catholics with the same genocidal cruelty France did the Huguenots. You cannot build a case for their persecution being even preemptive self defense.
This is actually a great argument for the harshness of the French Catholic approach. If they had been more lenient, they would have been the ones getting massacred soon.

But Moses did defeat an enemy race by means of battle, the Amalekites.
“Your pagan ancestors converted to Christianity” they scream, but what is meant here by “Christianity”? The propaganda used to entice the Germanic peoples bore little resemblance to what we now consider to be Christianity. Remember that the majority of people even in 1500 were.

The Puritans would have crushed you with heavy stones.
If I were to become a believing Christian I’d become an old style Calvinist you mad? (By old style I mean one of the New England ones who took doctrine of election to its natural conclusion that you are no longer bound by laws or duties to other men).

Hey Protestants, if Sola Scriptura is real why doesn't the bible talk to me?.
My Bible is on my desk, self-interpreting, self-authenticating and being the sole infallible authority for faith, morals and practice. I'm just waiting for it to tell me what's up. Not sure why it's so quiet though.

It’s because she’s an e-grifter and converting to Papism is the “trad” thing to do. Remember that offline the opposite is still much more common.
Q to my fellow Protestants: This is the grand-daughter of Protestant theologian Johannes Vlaardingerbroek. Why did she turn to Rome & not Geneva or London? My hunch is it has a lot to do with the degradation of the Bible's integrity & authority among Protestants themselves.

This completely fails to take the reasons for rejecting the creed into account. Someone who agress with the creed in substance but rejects it as a confessional document for Biblicist reasons is far better than someone who claims to accept it while denying fundamentals in the.
@masonmennenga I agree that rejecting the Nicene Creed is theologically worse than being gay-affirming.

You know who said this? Not Nestorius but John Calvin
@bibeIradikaI No it's not minor. It's heresy to deny that she is mother of God. It's Nestorianism.

You’re a deeply unserious person but then the meme was deeply unserious to begin with. As if a Protestant pastor is somehow worse because he doesn’t play dress up.
If you really want to go there. I'm more then happy to swap out the Evangelical preacher in the meme for a "Classical Protestant"

@XenophonCut @SpringhouseFilm Because this isn't biblical. The bible doesn't prohibit the measured drinking, and even speaks positively on it. If you excommunicate someone from church because he drinks low amounts at social events you're abusing the authority given to you.

Stupid community note. Authors aren’t an inherent authority in fact often they are really bad at understanding the implications of their own work.
Lord of the Rings is a masterful and edifying work - but. It is certainly not a Christian. Rather, it fits much more comfortably in the mold of the old heroic Pagan epics. Little thread 🧵🧵🧵🧵🧵

"Wherefore it is undoubted that there is no religion wherever there is an image. For if religion consists of divine things, and there is nothing divine except in heavenly things; it follows that images are without religion" - Lactantius 3rd century AD.

Very interesting case. The priests who conducted the exorcism were close followers of Lefebvre and claimed that the Virgin Mary was forcing the demons to tell the truth, which of course completely coincided with their opinions. IIRC they were both convicted of manslaughter.

Origen opposed any kind of images being used in Christian worship. If you showed him this he would probably mistake it for a pagan temple.
“This Virgin Mother of the Only-begotten of God, is called Mary, worthy of God, immaculate of the immaculate, one of the one.” Origen, Homily 1 {A.D. 244}.

Protestant countries even had Revolutions like the glorious revolution or the American independence war that led to a system which was still Christian but also protected the liberties of its people. When the French tried it they invented socialism.
If Protestantism caused the Enlightenment, why didn't the French Revolution happen in a Protestant country? Why did Protestant countries tend to keep their monarchies and Catholic/Orthodox countries have so many revolutions?.
