it’s not about looking in the mirror so much as that intense self-study we do whenever we perceive a flaw.. fixating on your hair, weight, skin & the anxiety it brings, always trying to solve yourself. when I get that urge I consciously reject it by saying ‘No, I’m ok with me.’
@biancavivion How would you suggest cutting back besides not looking in the mirror? That’s hard not to do because we need to get ready and check our appearance

I really do think looking at yourself less, being less aware of yourself physically heals something spiritually. vanity is a poison that produces-self contempt even if it mask itself as care.

I feel like I wasted a lot of prayers this year, not in that I missed them but I would emerge from them as anxious as I entered. I hope next year I will deepen my practice & internalize the peace of prayer, amen.

before this year I thought I had a lot of courage, but what I actually had was bravado, youthful curiosity towards the unknown. actual bravery is looking at the painful truth of circumstance & making a conscious choice to move forward anyway. this year I learned how to be brave.
