Odd thing is even with 238% jump in price, eggs are still cheaper in US than they have always been in France. And at less than 50c an egg still incredibly cheap. How do you package & transport an egg for 50c, let alone feed a chicken, when a first class letter is $1?
The price of a dozen eggs in the US spiked to a new record high of $4.95 in January. Over the last 4 years, egg prices have increased 238%, the largest 4-year increase in history.

So Trump backed down on Mexico after 1 day, Canada after 2 days and reduced China tariffs from 60% to 10% before they even started. In response China will block Google, which is already blocked, and had a go at $ILMN of all companies. Great trade war guys!

What might be inflationary is if Trump manages to print money to give subsidies to businesses hit by tariffs, which he did last time. Soaring commodities, initially triggered by tariffs, followed by deluge of free money to avoid recession caused last inflation cycle.
