Imagine being a descendant of Loyalists or War of 1812 veterans and hearing this BS.
Trump: Now, I love the people of Canada. We have a great relationship. But if they became our 51st state, it would be the greatest thing they could ever do. And think of how beautiful that country would be without that artificial line running right through it. Somebody drew it many years ago with a ruler—just a line.

@prairiecentrist The only reason why I even think about Super Bowl is because every year my father asks me if I know how to convert the Roman Numerals into Arabic. 😄

@BogartsEyeball Yeah, I was referring strictly to the family aspect. Interestingly enough, I have a friend who is like me, a second-generation Canadian, who has family living in New Jersey whom he visits regularly. Wouldn't be surprised if there are many more examples.

@BogartsEyeball Well my parents immigrated here in the 70's so I don't have the same experience. But I understand. I am in favour of our countries working together while maintaining our distinct Canadian identity based on loyalty to the Crown, bilingualism, "Peace, Order, and Good Gov't", etc.

@masking__mama I'm just amazed at how *some* Canadians are trying to be sympathetic to Trump's demands. Even openly on the CBC national news broadcast.
