Hope everyone enjoyed their #familyday2024 , #LouisRielDay or Civic holiday in #canada. Here are few snaps I grabbed from a peaceful yet chilly πŸ₯Ά walk along the Waterfront Trail in my hometown of Ajax, #ontario today. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Imagine being a descendant of Loyalists or War of 1812 veterans and hearing this BS.

Trump: Now, I love the people of Canada. We have a great relationship. But if they became our 51st state, it would be the greatest thing they could ever do. And think of how beautiful that country would be without that artificial line running right through it. Somebody drew it many years ago with a rulerβ€”just a line.

@masking__mama BTW I don't mean that as an insult, just an observation. Hugh Laurie said something similar, that America is too big to know itself.

@prairiecentrist The only reason why I even think about Super Bowl is because every year my father asks me if I know how to convert the Roman Numerals into Arabic. πŸ˜„

@BogartsEyeball Yeah, I was referring strictly to the family aspect. Interestingly enough, I have a friend who is like me, a second-generation Canadian, who has family living in New Jersey whom he visits regularly. Wouldn't be surprised if there are many more examples.

@dad_nrg @TheChaosWeeber I guess I mean 11th province instead of #51ststate, lol. The whole thing is silly.

@BogartsEyeball Well my parents immigrated here in the 70's so I don't have the same experience. But I understand. I am in favour of our countries working together while maintaining our distinct Canadian identity based on loyalty to the Crown, bilingualism, "Peace, Order, and Good Gov't", etc.

@RichardCityNews The...Flintstones? I grew up in the 90's/2000's and I barely watched that myself.

@masking__mama I'm just amazed at how *some* Canadians are trying to be sympathetic to Trump's demands. Even openly on the CBC national news broadcast.

@masking__mama About Canada? Yes, you definitely do. As for me, I'm still trying to figure out what this "surrendering at Yorktown" business is all about. πŸ˜„

@masking__mama But it's cool that we kept the Union Flag as an official flag here in Canada.
