Peatlands Comms Officer at Lancashire Wildlife Trust. Peat is awesome! Views are my own (apart from that 'peat is awesome' - surely everyone agrees with that!)

Thank you so much to the wonderful and lovely staff @PizzaExpress Preston who paid for my 12 year old son's meal yesterday when he was out on his first date!!! His request for the bill was met with "don't worry, we've covered it" ๐Ÿฅฐ See, there are great things in the world!

Thankfully the background of me singing "wibble wobble, wibble wobble jelly fungus on a branch" was removed by our amazing comms teams ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jelly fungus at Longworth Clough! ๐Ÿงก Our Comms Officer Jenny Bennion spotted this beauty recently on a walk to Longworth Clough, Egerton. The reserve is absolutely booming with all sorts of different fungi at the moment ๐Ÿ„

Here I am, hiding in the background whilst Jim (quite rightly stole the show) - you can hear me blethering on in the full version on YouTube though. But I fully understand if you feel like sticking pins in your eyes would be preferable...

An amazing day looking at bogs, sphagnum moss, 7,000 year old bog trees. Hosting Leibniz University of Hannover and Region Hannover to talk through shared experiences across revegetation of peatlands, sphagnum farming for peat alternatives and carbon farming. #SphagnumMonday

A glorious, if somewhat soggy morning spent doing some serious rhododendron destruction and mushroom spotting at Mere Sands Wood๐Ÿ„ And not a spot of peat in sight! If you can get outdoors and do some volunteering - it's just a great way to spend your time ๐Ÿ’š @Lancswildlife

Oh look everyone, extracting more oil and gas is actually a really good idea - and the government has handily provided us the children's tv animation to tell us why. Not sure about anyone else but I just love being patronised whilst also being lied to. Good grief ๐Ÿ˜

I love bogs, but sometimes it doesn't feel like they love me back... On yesterday's @CarePeat #Power2Peatlands field trip to Zwarte Beek in Belgium it was raining, the mossies were feasting, and I'd only had 3 hours sleep (my own fault). But THERE WAS POST FIELD TRIP CAKE!!! ๐Ÿ’š

Soggy Belgian boggy! The final field trip of @CarePeat #Power2Peatlands at the Valley of the Black Creek peatlands. Rain, bog bean and some awesome bog mowers! ๐Ÿšœ Although I might be feeling the effects of last night's peat rave now...

Winmarleigh Moss is not only home to the newly reintroduced sundews (which i forgot to take a photo of) but also delicious bog cranberries! The main question, can I pick enough for Xmas Dinner?
