Lots of commentary on “poll miss” but really it was lack of focus on data beyond headline voting intention. It was clear Trump was the favourite when you looked at anything beyond voting intention. Same as in 2020 where it was clear it was closer than headline polls suggested.

In battleground states, where Harris ran lots of ads & a big ground operation, Harris underperformed Biden’s 2020 vote share by 1.6 percentage points. In the non-battlegrounds she underperformed it by 3.9 points. Her campaign was effective, just not effective enough.
