@koinzangreg Checkoff is to promote beef. First off beef consumption has declined by 25% ever since this has been enacted. Second cattle producers, sell cattle not beef. The packers don’t pay the Checkoff, but get the most benefit. If packers paid in id be more inclined to support it.

So once they get EID up and down the supply chain, from birth to slaughter , they will be able to track every transaction. Every dollar will be collected. That’s why they want EID. This tweet ratio shows the actual grassroots popularity of the program!! @RepThomasMassie

@iamyourfarmer @J__Sherrill @ottoscholl I’m against it because it pulls money out of the local economy. There is a multiplier effect with agriculture commodities into a rural economy. For every $1 of a commodity sold, up to $7 goes back into the economy. Think of all the jobs it spurs.

@CBKimbrell We have a trade deficit with them on cattle. Our citizens eat more beef than them. They want to be in our market.
