Hello there, friend. 👀 I was #running late in the evening and saw a kookaburra perched on a #gumtree near home — common sight in Australia. Kookaburras perch in #eucalyptus (gum trees) around dawn and at dusk when they often make their "laughing" calls. Seeing this bird at sundown is typical, but they're loud and forceful during early morning and late evening hours. 🏃‍♀️ #laughingkookaburras #australianbirds #summer #NaturePhotography

February 1945 — a lull in the Battle of Manila, marking the end of Japanese military occupation of the Philippines. FIL-AM forces fought against the Japanese who occupied the city in 1942 following attack on #PearlHarbor in December 1941. Soldiers would kneel during mass by Filipino priest infront of San Agustin Church. They'd honor those who died in the their military struggle. Troops carry their comrades — killed just 100 meters from the Cathedral. Ruins of Legislative bldg. in the background. Poignant reminder of #WWII #History

I love summer — longer days, more leeway to spend more time outdoors. Waking up to the sun. Feeling energized. Despite the heat, allowing for a range of outdoor activities can be fun and provide mental and physical benefits — swimming, hiking, and camping. Physical activity in a natural environment has been linked with reduced negative emotions. Yes, summer nights can be warm at twilight because warmer air holds more moisture and clouds trap heat. At twilight, sun doesn't dip as far below the horizon during summer as sunrise and sunset meet in the northern sky. It's fun to dunk. It's the quickest way to cool off in high temperatures outside. Cold plunges can make you feel more alert. But plunging into cold water can trigger rapid breathing, and can cause you to drown if you gasp while your head is submerged. #summertime #nature #twilight #summernights
