I've discussed this before; I think worth mentioning again. Lumping digital art in with PFPs and calling them all "NFTs" so people can quickly/easily dismiss an entire package and lazily move on will go down as one of the biggest blunders the art world has seen in our generation.

The $SOS airdrop created a simple contract and piggybacked on the entire OpenSea ecosystem without even asking them. It’s one of the most incredible online marketing programs I have ever seen. And it wasn’t even done by a major brand. Wtf, web3 is incredible.

I sympathize with @foundation for having to pivot during a very difficult bear market. Further, I no longer think it's possible to survive long-term as a standalone art platform in web3 - artists can mint anywhere now and handle the distribution themselves. Mostly poorly tbh.

Current digtal art forecast:. I've personally given up thinking a bunch of older trad art collectors are coming into this space (see Art Basel). The few who do will be driven more by money than art. The next wave will be driven by the 20yr olds, not the Boomers. Focus on them.

It is getting ugly out there so here's my advice after many years of investing:. 1) Don't be a hero. Don't buy too early. Miss the first 10% move up and be fine with it. 2) Consolidate down to your highest conviction ideas. If you have more than 10-15 good ideas then your ideas.

No matter what happens to @LooksRareNFT, the conclusion thus far is that @opensea doesn't have nearly the moat that many thought. Barriers to entry in web3 are lower because the data is on-chain and free (can be vampired). Which means you'd better take care of your constituents✊.
