The Rovers football family is devastated to announce the death of one of its own, under 18’s manager Lionel Dunn tragically lost his battle with Covid last night. Loved within the club, a true gentleman in the game & a passion for football like no other. Rest in peace Gaffer
#Rip
A tough day saying goodbye to Rovers u18 manager Lionel Dunn, proud of all the u18 lads turning out in kit to show their respects to one of the kindest footy mad people you could ever meet, One in a million, rip gaffer, gone but never forgotten. Stay safe all.
Happy to report, after an FA inspection today Rovers have passed the 18 square meter rule for the away dressing room & will be permirted to continue @ step 4 next season. Sadly away team no longer have a urinal but have 0.8 square meters of empty floor space to tick a box!
#Rules
After a busy week we are absolutely delighted to announce Rovers new management set up. Local football legends Jermaine Hall and Leon Cashman have been appointed as joint managers and will be assisted by Stef Bailey and Chris Robson. Welcome back guys,
#LetsGetitOn
Sad news today, Rovers long serving committee member and groundsman Arthur Jennart has passed away. A friend to us all, loved a natter over a beer and what he didnt know about the Sharpenhoe Rd pitch wasnt worth knowing. Condolences to all his family, Rip Arthur Mo 💔
Lots of chat this week on ground grading, every club knows the rules, its there in black & white. Ample time is given to get the work done. If you want to spend all your money on playing budget plz dont whinge when FA come knocking. Good luck to all play off contenders
#football
Maybe our first win of the season but the lads and manager at this club are unreal. We dont need to read the dross on
@HertfordTownFC
twitter feed, you had 99.9% of the ball but lost. Maybe have a shot or two 🤷♂️🤷♂️ they may go in.
Only one candidate for player of the decade at The Rovers. He started the decade with us and finished with us. An extra tenner up the road wasnt for this man, the one the only Mr Paul Andrews, Player of The Decade
Five years ago today’s game would have been off due to waterlogged pitch. Investing in the infrastructure of the club instead of overpaid wanna‘bees or has beans has paid off, decent pitch, game on & a win. Lads put in a shift, John sonuga mom. Non league the right way 👍
The
@bartonroversfc
squad haven’t given folks connected with the club much to smile about lately but they’ve gone a long way tonight to putting smiles on faces that are so brave the week before Xmas. Very humbling and a personal thanks to the staff at the L&D
#blues
Its great to see this guy smile, its been a tough few days with a family bereavement, the lads were marvellous yesterday to bring
@yella33
and the club something to cheer about ⚽️🍒🍒🍒
Club statement; Following a difficult start to the season the club have relieved manager Tony Fontenelle of 1st team manager duties. Yella has been a massive part of The Rovers & it’s a sad day to see him go, a true friend to us all. Thank you Yella, a club and footballing legend
Some times in life things that matter matter more than life. To all those less fortunate than us, Merry Christmas and may all your health wishes come true x
With a combined age of 168 years young volunteers Arthur 'mo' Jennart, making his return to 'work' after health issues &
@AylesburyUtdFC
club stalwart Ron Schmidt. Characters that make non league great. Prem teams take note, for the love of the game not greed.
#Goats
She lives on!!! Following todays ground grading inspection and a good few days of hard graft Sharpenhoe Rd lives on with a clean bill of health from the FA. Well done and massive thanks to all involved.
#pass
Massive thanks to vice chairman Steve Jefcoate and the team for achieving the ground grading today. All busy people with full time jobs giving up family time to please the FA rule makers. I dont see any 400k players in non league just hard working volunteers.
#ThankYou
Happy birthday to Rovers president Pat Howarth, 78 years young today and been with the club since he was 15. Who says loyalty in footy is dead.
#HappyBirthday
Great evening at
@BedsFA
where Rovers Jake Blackwood scoops young volunteer of the year. We may not win much but what we do win is heartfelt and deserved. Congratulations Jake and keep up the awesome media work
Now the dusts settled on an amazing weekend, the love and good wishes for this club has been endless. The lads were never losing that game, their pride, passion and desire was 2nd to none, one of the best performances @ Sharpenhoe Rd for ages, thank you all ❤️❤️❤️
#WeAreStayingUp
Happy birthday to club legend Arthur Jennart a mear 85 years young and still helping out round the ground. Seen below with another of the games legends
@AylesburyUtdFC
Ron Schmidt who also deserves a long service award
@SouthernLeague1
take note. Happy birthday Arthur ‘Mo’
Disgraceful decision by today’s match referee, calling the game off without consulting the opposition or anyone from home club even attempting to fork the pitch. Calling The Rovers chairman ‘mental’ probably the worst thing he could of done, that’s respect for you
@Thefa
Fantastic addition to our matchday squad with the clubs 2nd defibrillator. One can now be permanently located at the club whilst the new unit covers the team and staff both home and travelling away. Lets hope they are never called into action 🙏🙏🙏
Not many people can claim to be in their 70th year at one club!
Barton rovers legend, the one, the only Mr Pat Howarth.
Congratulations Pat, who has been awarded the
#outstandingserviceaward
at tonight’s
@BedsFA
awards evening! 💙🏆
NEW SIGNING |
Manager Jermaine Hall on his latest arrival “Rio comes off the back of a very good season where he was the standout player for Kempston, then helped Bedford to get promoted.
We need your support!
With the inter-step playoff scheduled for this Saturday we will need as much support as possible this weekend at Sharpenhoe Road.
Our opponents should be confirmed tomorrow but we will be playing at home and are hoping for a large crowd to get behind us!
We’re thrilled to announce to signing of Alfie Warman! Alfie has previously played at Hitchin Town and Godmanchester. Before his spells at senior level he was the captain for our U18s team! We are delighted to introduce anyone who has come through our Youth rankings in the past!
Thats it full time, what a game, come back, emotions, never give up, Rovers from 3-0 down take the points with a 3-4 win away
@NorthLeigh_FC
GET IN THERE LADS ⚽️⚽️⚽️
This time last year and happy to say 'loyalty" in football isnt dead as Rake is still with us and hasnt moved up the road for an extra tenner a week.
#ForTheLoveOfTheGame
Following Central Beds Councils ludicrous plans to build 168 houses on Luton Rd football pitches we have today released the following statement. There will be a drop in meeting at the club this Thursday
@7
.30 in order for people to pop in and fill out objection forms to the plan.
Weeeeeeeeeee, the old onion bag bulges twice for Kieran Hamilton as Rovers fell high flying Cirencester with a 2-0 win. Every man played a part in that, great effort from all who got the coach 2 hours away from home on a Tuesdays winter night. 3 points in the locker coming home
So here it is then, big signing news, dead line day for the rich clubs who squander millions but for us at grass roots level we have spent our money wisely on a set of furry dice for the mini bus.
#ItsHowWeRoll
For the football lovers today it wasnt the greatest but four goals and a clean sheet cant be bitched about. Village club with a soul thats mighty, FA Cup, dare to dream
#FuturesBlue
Friday signing news as we welcome utility man Ty Ward to the Rovers. Ty joins us from
@stivestownfc
and his transfer has gone though in time to go straight into tomorrow’s squad for the road trip to Halesowen
#WelcomeTy
On the pitch or off the pitch, not sure but out with the old in with the new. The shocking blue pitch perimeter barrier is destined for the bonfire and the first of many Alexandra Security Fencing panels is going in. Look at that view ⚽️❤️
Footballs taken a back seat through these trying times over the past few weeks but what a way to come out of stealth mode with the signing of Charlie Smith who returns after a successful spell with The Rovers last season.
#HugeNews
Traveled up and down the M1 today to get to footy. Shut at J12-13 and both lorry drivers lost their lives, from us all at BRFC lifes bigger then footy,
#RIP
We are sorry to report that the 10am fixtures release has been delayed due to some last minute 'tin pottery' by the big wigs in grey suits.
@SouthernLeague1
spokesman commented "I knew it was a bad idea letting Network Rail compile the fixtures"
#Delayed
Wet, cold, miserable day at Sharpenhoe road yesterday but
@yella33
and the lads delivering an early Christmas present made it all worth while, 3 points in a hard fought win ⚽️
