Dear Twitter pals: you can always find me through wcnews dot com, the last website. And if you want to talk about nothing with some of the most aging dorks there are, join our Discord:
The X-Files is on TV, everyone is screaming about Hillary Clinton and there’s a bug in Pentium chips. Thanks to all involved for helping me achieve my dream of it being 1994 again.

Excuse me, but "virtue signaling” and "power hierarchy”? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.
Happy birthday to Wing Commander I, which was released 33 years ago today! It marked an epochal shift in how computer games were played, made and sold... and I guess you could say it has been pretty big in my life, too!
Here are the amazing takeoff and landing sprites from the original Wing Commander. Along with the cockpits these were absolutely essential in establishing the player's ship in their head (and showing-not-telling damage after a mission!).
There’s a lost Wing Commander game out there, somewhere. The SNES port of Wing Commander II was finished but never published. Please spread the word and someday we’ll find it!
Remember when folks would troll Star Citizen saying it was “selling jpegs”? Now those ships are flyable… and /actually/ selling jpegs is somehow the biggest fad in the world?
Art from a t-shirt given to Origin Systems employees in the mid-90s, not long after the EA buyout. It predates the Borg sphere introduced in First Contact!
Happy birthday to Wing Commander II, one of the greatest games ever made! Thirty years ago today we learned that our friends were all dead and that everyone else in the galaxy now hates us.
Is this coming week the first time we’ve had Star Trek, Star Wars and Marvel shows all air new streaming episodes? What a rare opportunity for the most unpleasant people in the world to let us know how much they hate three things at once!
I'm extremely sad to pass along the news that Klavs (aka Adam Burch) has passed away unexpectedly. He was an incredible artist, a true giant in the Wing Commander community and a friend.
It’s high time for a schlocky ‘90s style action movie where an aging superstar actor has to steal a space shuttle from a museum to save the world from an evil satellite or something.
Discovery’s final mission completed.
Space Shuttle Discovery landed at Kennedy Space Center today in 2011, completing STS-133, its 39th mission and final spaceflight.
I am so sad to report that our beautiful boy has passed on. Teaky was the most special cat I have ever known. I will strive to treat all beings with as much unconditional love as he gave us.
Whatever your feelings on the Luna 25 crash, I think we can at least admit that Russia still holds the record for coolest looking moon probe. Lunokhod 2 looks like it was fully capable of fighting Doctor Who.
Hello everybody! I’m sorry for the radio silence, I’m in the hospital fighting an infection. I’m okay and it’s nowhere near as bad as last time, just a pain to get through. All Wings Considered will resume as soon as I’m flight ready again.

If you’re a huge secret grump like me, you’re probably sick of people telling you how delightful Return to Monkey Island is. Well, terrible news: it is exactly as great as you’re sick of everyone saying it is. 🏴☠️
We’re heading all the way back to 1984 with these three LEGO FABULAND® sets. Shout out to anyone who remembers these cute critters. 👀

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Wing Commander II! The original MS-DOS version was released 29 years ago today. At the time it was like nothing else in the galaxy, pushing both technology and narrative in games to totally new places... and it made Wing Commander a universe!
THRILLING ART NEWS! It turns out that the amazing cover to Wing Commander: End Run was NOT painted by Paul Alexander (as credited)... but David Mattingly! And... HE SELLS PRINTS AT HIS WEBSITE!
Happy birthday to... WING COMMANDER ARMADA! Armada was released 25 years ago today. It was a spin-off project that added multiplayer, turn based strategy and a true 3D engine to the Wing Commander canon!
Look at these cuties! Eight years ago I married
@ballroom_blitz
in the rain and I love her now as much as I did that day. Life can be tough but we have got it figured out together. ❤️
Happy anniversary,
@ballroom_blitz
! It’s hard to recognize most of the world we knew back then but my deep love for you remains. Now let’s see what adventures the next ten years have for us!
@DavidAGoodman
@Brandon_Bird
(When they out Hercules out on DVD the first set had a contest you could enter to win a trip to the Olympics with Kevin Sorbo and to this day I can’t imagine anything more uncomfortable than the possibility of winning that.)
Today we celebrate off-centered spaceship cockpits: the Tarsus from Privateer and the Kor-Larh from Wing Commander Armada! Today we'd be able to display these double cockpits head on with a fancy widescreen monitor.
@thomasthecat
You could finish the story on a budget! Do an in-universe documentary with the original cast as old veterans reminiscing about the war in talking head shots.
Check your local listings for “Rick Steves Art of Europe” — my brand-new, six-hour miniseries, airing now on public television across the country.
Where will you be watching from?
DARPA selected us to further develop the concept of building a moon-based railroad network that would transport humans, supplies and resources for commercial ventures. Learn more:
Five years ago I married
@ballroom_blitz
in the rain surrounded by our very good friends and family. It has been as Wordsworth said: five summers with the length of five long winters. ❤️
I’m so sorry to report that my mother in law Jeanne has died unexpectedly. Please keep
@ballroom_blitz
in your prayers. I will update when there is more information. She loved us so much and the world feels so dark and wrong tonight.
I call on everyone who ever made fun of the fact that enemy pilot Colonel Blair simply walks into a joint session of congress at the end of Wing Commander IV to apologize IMMEDIATELY.
