THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE NOW:- #1 It's OK to take a little rest off and engage in other activity specifically for leisure.😊 As a creative, long breaks are optimal time to generate more ideas. You shouldn’t go brain dead on the screen! 💻 It's also a time to bond with family 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒and test out your ideas, see them through another set of eyes. Abscond from feeling like this is time wastage, cause it ain’t. Sometimes we ought not to be too serious about everything. #2 Do not give in to comparison! 🙅🏾‍♂️ Having lots of time to self and the Internet, you’re constantly bombarded with all types of content. 🤦‍♂️ Most content in your niche looks well executed and gets massive impressions. You may feel the pinch of inferiority, start questioning your process and results. Once you do that, the rabbit hole is bottomless. This is the trap! 🪤 You’re just another person viewing beautiful content, right? Well just because it's beautiful doesn't negate the beauty behind your own ideas and content. When other creatives also view your content, they get the same exact feeling! View other people's content solely to learn and suck it in. Don't compare their process with yours. ❎ A good practice to overcome this feeling is positively affirming their stuff, give credit where it is due, appreciation where it’s warranted. But also deeply appreciate your work, take inventory of how far you’ve come with your content and visualize the future. I like referring to my work as “my babies” and babies do go through so many milestones. Someone out there won’t know how far you’ve come and what you’ve done to get your baby where they are. Change your mental metrics today. Work at your pace and your consumers will come. #3 Don't break your routine or schedule! It matters a lot that you keep your routine or learn to flex it in case you have moved somewhere away from home. You owe yourself this self discipline. You know exactly where you’re headed and what needs to be done and NOT done 👀 Your routine; these simple daily rituals and habits though minuscule are what have got you this far baby and you know it . the only means of making this happen. Your routine involves well thought out activities each with a rationale behind them; one that contributes to your long term aspirations. Breaking your routine is sinning against your very future and that can't be tolerated. Keep asking yourself, is what I am doing in line with where I want to be 5 years from now, God willing?
