my friend sold her personal horse who she very much loved. the new owner posted a progress video where she said she “hated him the second she took him home” and it took her months “just to like him, let alone ride him.” i would cry if someone said that about my old horse.
hey uh, your horse isnt two years old just because you or some governing body decided it should be. your horse is two when it passes it’s birth day for the second time. biology doesnt care about your riding agenda. goodnight.
“if you beat your partner, its abuse and a crime. if you beat your dog, its abuse and the aspca can take them away. but if you beat your horse, its something to brag about?” - my wise bf
I bawled crossing the finish. No refusals. She flew over everything so bravely that we had time faults for being too fast!! but we got 6th out of 17th, my perfect perfect girl😭😭😭
when katie pontone questioned why top level dressage horses needed four shoes to be sound to compete on near perfectly groomed footing… that got me thinking
sometimes i think abt someone on twitter sharing my horses ad saying “someone on here needs to buy this horse” and then. almost two months later. i bought that horse. i dont remember who posted it anymore but, you are welcome.
✨before olympic eventing kicks off, friendly reminder that the horses aren’t “skinny”, they are fit, and the riders aren’t being “left behind”, they’re maintaining a safe center of balance for XC ✨
not for nothing, but youngsters are kinda just ugly. ugly duckling 3yr old lark to big beautiful bird
(all pics are from when she was w/ her old owner)
you don’t know how badly you want something until you’re starved of the opportunity. I am going to event this horse gdi. I need to get her on xc, asap!!
whatever happens tomorrow on XC, this GOOD mare got us to a 4th place after dressage & show jump at her first event ever in a big class!! so proud of her❤️
look at him & I’m reminded at one point I was an 8yr old kid who wanted her own pony more than anything. no other goals. no big plans. just a horse she could love.
today’s finds!! i’ve wanted the saddle pad FOREVERR, and the boots i got as a whole set for only $15!! I was just too lazy to put the rest on lolol. also ordered her a new bit per our fitters reccomendation!!
hi i’m having a crisis of deciding what i want to do with my life and making sure it supports horses. if you feel comfortable sharing, what do you guys do for a living?
new barn job is providing housing AND salary (thats more than i made at my old job + had to pay rent)… paid time off… overtime pay… INTERNET… im so excited
I’m only a little offended someone assumed my horse is barefoot because, and I quote, “I guess not all of us can afford the cost of shoeing” and not because… I just prefer my horse barefoot…? 😬
when you always give your horse treats on the pedestal, so when it’s out while you’re warming up she just goes and parks herself on it without you asking💀
my barn is finally gonna be implementing 24/7 hay with slow feed nets 🙏🙏🙏🙏 i cant wait to not feel constant guilt if i dont visit lark to feed her a meal midday lol
Are horses priced at $2k really going to sl^ught*^r? A certain tiktok famous rescue/couple was saying in a live yesterday that they needed $2k to save a friesian cross.
my gelding’s leaser got eliminated at her last show because she wore her stock tie with a vest after coats were waived and apparently thats not allowed with stock ties in dressage… that is the most silly, pointless rule. im sorry.
idk what my trainer did to finally get me to crack and push back into my hips + release my hands but thank goodness. or maybe I fell off enough times to make myself do better 😅
I dont think as a BO/manager you should be changing a horses feed in any sort of small way without first consulting the owner🙃Apparently they dropped Lark’s grain while we were at the show & I noticed when I got back. & I’m pissed.
my barn has had this adorable lady on stall rest the last few months recovering from a trailer injury, and today she finally started her journey home to her momma who had to move to Arizona without her🥺good luck Dippity!!
If whips aren’t allowed at the highest levels of dressage, why are spurs? I see them misused so often, and shouldn’t the horse not need any training aid if they are truly working correctly at that level?
it’s honestly disappointing how few dressage trainers can recognize a tense/hollow horse with a incorrectly developed topline in their progeam. even more disappointing are the judges who award them the scores that allow them to continue and boast these poor training habits.
he’s even more handsome in the daylight! he wont let us touch him, but he seems SO curious and like he really wants to interact, he’s just so scared. its ok buddy, you’ll learn people aren’t so bad💙
i think it is highly difficult to find an UL rider who isn’t shitty/is fair to their horses, because riding horses at the UL is inherently unfair to the animal. in any discipline, horses aren’t meant to compete to the extreme.
