Road Traffic Injuries (RTIs) is today the leading cause of child and adolescent deaths in India, with nearly 45 children under 18 years of age losing their lives in road crashes every day. A National Roadmap for Child and Adolescent Road Safety was released by UNICEF India and @NIMHANS_BLR to analyze the burden, risks and challenges, and provide recommendations for multi-sectoral action to strengthen road safety for young people in the country. “Children are vulnerable to severe injuries owing to their physical, developmental and physiological attributes. Given the huge increase in road crash fatalities among children, UNICEF has stepped in to encourage safer mobility for them.” Vivek Singh, OIC Health, UNICEF India.
