Conversation (this morning) w/ a friend from high school who lives in Marion, NC. Old Fort and Marion in McDowell Co are being largely overlooked in the news coverage. Tough times make tough peopleā¦but really these people have been tough all along.

Thank you @brianstelter and @CNN for the coverage of the recovery efforts in western NC. It has been a shining moment for local radio but we wouldnāt be able to do it without an incredible team and the listeners who have been providing constant information.
>> @ashontheradio worked in New Orleans earlier in her career, where colleagues divided time into "before Katrina and after Katrina." She suspects Helene will be the same dividing line for some NC towns. Indeed, this radio coverage really reminds me of WWL's work during Katrina.
