If there is anything that should be changing right now in the soccer landscape in America it should not be the birth year vs grad year. How about we talk about kids playing 7v7/9v9/11v11 way too early. Change that. That is more important in regards to player development.

Coaching isn’t just about tactics—it’s high-level problem-solving. ✔ Why is pressing failing? ✔ Why aren’t chances turning into goals? ✔ Why is the buildup breaking down? Every game is a new puzzle.

If we want creative players, we must let them explore uncharted paths. If we let them repeat the same actions like everyone else, don't be surprised if they play like everyone else. But be aware that is different from just letting them play, which overwhelms most of your

Game day pre-talks are often done wrong. Too long. Too complex. Too much teaching. Players switch off. Message is lost. Here’s what a pre-talk should be about 🧵

Last weekend you watched your team play. You saw them lose the ball 23 times. You saw your striker missed three clear chances. You observed that the pressing wasn't coordinated. You review the footage afterwards But are you analysing or "consuming" that footage? 🧵

We cannot separate player and team development. They happen at the same time. How we play as a team shapes the players. So the better we play as a team, the better the players become. And the better the players become, the better we play as a team. It’s a reinforcing cycle.
