After thinking about it for a while, this is probably the tweak I'd suggest for Rooney's formation. The most important adaptations for me are: the extra attacker committed in the attacking phase; CAM occupying the centre; concentration of players on either flank

Overall, I think that Argyle are a quality CM from a mid-table finish, but an injury or two in the wrong positions (especially Mumba/Whittaker) from relegation. But that was an impressive display, and I'm actually excited for the next game now, a rare feeling for me in 2024
