Ambulance just arrived and they are taking my wife to the hospital for covid. Her condition has worsened since this morning.

My wife is breathing on her own. They removed her from the ventilator at 1 PM today. She'll remain closely monitored while in ICU and possibly be transferred tomorrow afternoon to a room.

Caleb, my grandson, has a doctor's appointment next week. They will perform some tests that will last about 4 hours. He was born on 06/23 and during the first week, he had 2 seizures. Body tensing, eyes rolling back of the head, blue feet. Since then, none. Testing for Epilepsy.

She's in good hands. Doctors have learned a lot in the past few years treating covid patients. My wife's o2 was down to 61% and went on a ventilator. She survived.

Day 13 update2:
My wife remains stable on the ventilator, semi-conscious, and still responding when awake. O2 saturation remains at 96%. Normal lab results. A little low on BP so they are giving some medication to raise the BP. The nurse indicated she's responding well.๐

My wife was transferred out of ICU into a room today. Tonight will be the 2nd night without a ventilator. Still very weak and needs assistance to walk. Currently taking steroids and is on 6 liters o2. No indication of how much longer she'll remain in the hospital.

My wife continues to recover. Still needs to remain in hospital, but is improving. On 6 liters o2, unable to eat solid foods (had a milkshake today). Going to the restroom remains a challenge, but workable.
One final comment, she now advocates getting the vax!!!

Day 14 update2:
My wife is currently stable, on a ventilator, 93% o2 saturation. Today's spontaneous breathing exercise didn't go too well, they'll continue each day little by little. Sedation lowered, she's able to respond to doctors on a writing board while enjoying music.๐ท

My daughter relayed to me that my wife is holding steady. They keep her in a semi-conscious state and responds (squeeze of fingers) to the doctors. Her clot is no longer an issue. Her o2 saturation remains in the high 90s w/ventilator. It's early & will take time.

My wife's doctor called with + updates. The breathing trial went well and lasted about 4 hours without the ventilator. They would like to lower the o2 intake from 50% to 40%, o2 saturation at 95%. Good vitals. Good spirits. If steady may come off vent 1-2 days.

My wife's condition remains stable. The o2 saturation stayed between 95 & 97%. Today they will do a spontaneous breathing trial to see how she reacts. She'll stay on the ventilator 1+ day if the trial goes well, then begin weaning her off it. Still responding.๐

ICU unit has gotten my wife's O2 level up now at 93%. She's on 100% O2 (mask). She was sipping on a vanilla milkshake ๐. Her condition remains critical. It isn't stable and quite a rollercoaster. Will continue to post so others continue to learn. ๐

Picked up wife from hospital. Waiting at pharmacy on 7 medications. She's on o2 that is good for about 2 hours. Very tired. We will then get home and get her to bed. I'll call a service that will bring o2 (number to call is on o2 tank). I'll add more later.

Day 11 2nd update: They will be turning my wife over on her stomach to help with the lungs. She's at 80% oxygen retention, they are trying to get it to 90%. They will decide this afternoon if the ventilator will become necessary. She's on Remdesivir, steroids, and other meds.

Talked with the nurse earlier. My wife is doing better and is alert. Vitals are good. Lungs show slight improvement, but the COVID remains. Breathing trials again today & ventilator adjustments. Possibly off the vent late afternoon, but closely monitored.๐ค

My wife's lungs appear to be improving. She's now reaching 1500 ml w/spirometer. Up until now, only reached 750 ml.
Continues to remain on 24/7 o2, with the concentrator set to a constant 3 (was 4-6). Continues warfarin.
Lab work tomorrow morning.

My wife is still alert. She's on 100% oxygen in ICU. She's at 84% oxygen level. They are trying to see if it will improve; otherwise, they'll use a ventilator.

Day 11 update: My wife's condition has worsened. Got a call a while ago and they put a mask back on. Oxygen level is dropping. We are trying to get her to agree with the ventilator, which is becoming more likely that she will have to go on it. In the end, we go with her wishes.๐ง

Walking a lot, I had a small piece of rock embedded in my big toe. Didn't feel it because of feet neuropathy. Well, I didn't notice (failure to check) and an infection set into the bone. Once that happens, there is only one solution, which was regretfully performed.โน๏ธ

Had 1st visit with my wife at the hospital yesterday. Still on 5 liters o2. Gave her small hugs, caressed her forehead. She had a long night with pain. Back on heparin drip after they found more blood clots in her lungs. Slow improvements.๐ No day 19 updates.

My wife had a good night while off the ventilator. Vitals are good. Doctors will update me if they move her out of ICU today along with the next steps.

My wife slept through the night. Checked on her every 1/2 hour.
This morning she's doing better. Her o2 is 95%, normal temp.

I'll take another test on 11/4 for covid, it'll be my 10th day in self-quarantine. I was never sick during the week I cared for my wife or the week after she was taken to the hospital.
I got a Pfizer booster on 10/18. The 2 prior shots were also Pfizer.

Day 12 update: Just had a conference call with the doctor and my wife. They will begin the process to insert a breathing tube and she will be hooked to a ventilator. The 100% o2 being administered is no longer effective since her levels are dropping.
