Link in bio or right here: *** Some more details on the tracks follow: “Truthahn” was written in Florida, during American thanksgiving (the track title is German for turkey). The track is a mutual indictment of political vacuity and our inability to recognize it. Dazed and confused we stumble, led by mentally displaced leaders, propped up by the unseen machine that over promises and then under-delivers. We think we have a choice. We don’t. Or, is there a new light at the end of the tunnel? The original mix features a slightly detuned piano and hollowed out bass line that persistently drives the track along. It dips it toes in both synth wave and indie dance. It is ready for the dance floor. Mike Opani is Michael Paino’s (and his recognizable pseudonym CATIVO) techno alter ego. Approaching 30 years of creating and DJing electronic music, Mike’s first successes were with drum and bass, including productions that worked their way onto “John Peel sessions” and a very much in demand DJ, touring extensively throughout Europe. He started producing techno in 2015 and this has included various EPs and albums on labels including: MT-Music, Freshcut, Original Traxx and Evosonic Records. Beautifully explained. I agree w your squeeze point suggestion. DJT is a disruptor and he is disrupting well beyond US borders. In the long term this will be good for Canada. It will force us to make needed changes which aren't that dissimilar to the changes currently happening in the US.

Hey there. Welcome to Day 10 of the 12 days of apaull. I can tell you this diaristic journey of all that happened in 2024 is going to stretch beyond the 12 days, so please bear with me. In June 2024, I released “Pink Gun Club” which explored US gun culture lurking in unexpected places, with the poignant call to action: “If the world is dangerous then you need to be dangerous back.” The initial and fully finished version of the track had a much different set of vocals and a much different story. Long story short I could not get this sample cleared so had to re-visit the track and create a new story. I am someone who likes to finish things so to have to re-work a finished track was quite frustrating. Ultimately, I viewed it as a learning experience and worked hard to come up with (and be happy with) this new version. Manchester’s @djfutch created a molten remix that would glue you to a hard techno floor. “Pink Gun Club” was the last track off of my debut album “Fought and Won” and signalled the start of the process of releasing my second album. Its Day 5 of the 12 days of apaull. April 2024 was a busy month for me. It included a couple of DJ sets for Australia's @kissfmaustralia and Sweden's @substantivtechno When I started producing I did not anticipate that I would need to learn to DJ as well. But a critical part of music as art is performance. Now DJing is not really performance for a producer, in the strictest sense, because you are mostly playing other people's music. I say that respectfully because like anything else it takes considerable talent and skill to be a good DJ. Learning to DJ has given me an appreciation of other producers and the music they create and informs my own music production in terms of producing tracks that a DJ could insert into their set. I think the yin and yang of needing to be both producer and DJ (and vice versa) is ripe for disruption. Maybe let people focus on what they are really good at and/or what they really want to do. I'll continue to hone my DJ skills because I have put in the time and am starting to feel comfortable and enjoy myself. I am also currently working on putting together a live set of my own material. This incorporates but extends DJ skills to blend and make interesting a set of your own tracks. Much more on that in 2025. I listen a lot to famed producer etc Rick Rubin and he says much of the same. From my perspective I have learned that it is important to find your own voice. Find your art. Make sure the production is technically sound. Put it out there. That is a big metric of success already. The rest is elusive and generally a long game of persistence, that if done consistently and respectfully, puts you in the position to accept good fortune if/when it arrives
