you just need to do more things. in the sense if you were to put all your accomplishments on a piece of paper, its should be wildly impressive. You must put in the effort to stick to something and accomplish it Build something, learn a language, get a certificate in a field. Not only does it help you develop as a person but it holds weight and credibility for really anything you do. It builds discipline, competency, and a structured ability to learn things. The more things you do the more well rounded and generally competent you become. And it’s an immense help when you need credibility to get a job, make a sale, or start a business. Put the phone down and dedicate 1-2 hours a day to learning and achieving something. Do something that is impressive and you can be proud of.

@LAChas77 people don’t realize how much purchasing power the dollar lost. Let alone how much more expensive things have gotten while the quality has significantly dropped even after adjusting for inflation

@Niggalander to be fair all languages sounds silly and unserious to people who don’t speak them

@VitalityMaxxed exactly is actually far more simple than English. It’s just very different and based on tonality. Reading and writing will be difficult but i think all the people saying it will take years suffer from a skill issue

i’m going to do this using the Michel Thomas Method here (also has other languages) it’s more natural as it’s fully verbal , following along as you speak. This will get me to get semi fluent knowing close to 1000 words which i’ll get done this month them i’m going to grind learning vocab independently while listening to native speakers. I’m also using pimsleur which i will use to help me read and write chinese. That may take a bit longer to get good at than the 2-3 months i planned, but i’m not too worried because there’s so many tools to translate language now. Speaking and understanding it is the most important part Granted, i’m putting in 3+ hours of super focused and productive work into learning. I have it all planned out so I know how much i have to do each day. And in all clarity I have a God given photographic memory so i’m able to learn and crunch learning curves much much faster than normal But learning a language is not as hard as people make it out to be. Just gotta put in the effort, consistency, and learn it in a more natural and verbose manor which is how we all learned our first language as a baby but this goes with anything, you can learn anything you want despite how difficult it may seem with just some consistent effort and a organized actionable plan.
starting learning chinese yesterday already learned the fundamentals, language structure, tonality, and about 50 words I’ll be at least semi fluent in chinese be the end of the month and fully fluent with the ability to read/write in 2-3 month The Michel Thomas method is goated
