It might be ideal to give families caring for children with ASD a choice between telehealth vs. F2F, in-person format for clinical/therapeutic service delivery.

Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, service disruptions and negative health impact were greater for families having a child with ASD but more so in younger children, children with greater ASD severity, and children from low-income families.

Thank you APTA for recognizing this work with the Chattanooga Award! Adding motor problems to the definition of ASD will make motor screening, evaluation, and treatment more accessible to children with ASD.

@stutii14 Any words of wisdom you can provide on developing his spelling skills beyond are much appreciated. I am a professor at Univ of Delaware and could access UD library books. What else could i be accessing for him to learn roots and words from other languages?

@stutii14 I have been reviewing your website spelling mantra. It is beautifully put together. I have a 5th grader son who reads a lot and got out at 4th place in regional without much prep. So we are trying to put a strong effort this year.

@stutii14 Hi Stuti, I was wondering if you are the same Stuti who is a superb speller. I wanted to thank you for the wonderful videos you have developed. I was curious to know how you learned this information. What would one read to develop this understanding?

fNIRS allows us to study brain activation as children perform a variety of tasks between people, for example, having conversations, playing instruments, or board games. It allows naturalistic interactions/movements that are not possible in an MRI scanner.

We also study the brain activation patterns of children as they engage in motor and social skills using functional near-infrared spectroscopy or fNIRS. fNIRS is similar to fMRI as it measures changes in brain oxygenation to a region.

Hello, I am a faculty at the University of Delaware in the Physical Therapy Department. I lead the Move2Learn Autism Lab on the UD STAR campus. My students and I work with children with autism. We study effects of various motor interventions (music, dance, hippotherapy, play).
