My book of poems, Abattoir, was released yesterday. Rereading it brings back memories of late nights in lab but also what fascinated me about bioengineering. Grateful to colleagues (incredible folks in workshops & Mooney lab!), mentors (esp @jorie_graham), family, & editors!

My two cents on Solmaz Sharif's Customs - I thought her handling in this book of envy, among other things, was particularly interesting. Thanks to Full Stop for publishing!

In addition to poetry, we're now accepting submissions of nonfiction, criticism, reviews, etc. The intent is to support critical (though not necessarily academic) dialogue in/of poetry. Send us your work!

I guess this is old news but recently came across this sad & fascinating case report of what could go wrong if you accidentally transduce a cancer cell with a CAR transgene. Reads like a tale of body horror a la Cronenberg.

@EdmundPrestwich For some reason I really like the end word 'bit' - it's almost too simple and nonspecific of a word, but anything else ('morsel'? 'piece'?) would have been wrong

@shhelleywong I agree it's probably both. Love that you're looking into this though. It's definitely a barrier, both $ and mentally, and the more understood & destigmatized about it the better. And hopefully leads to some change haha
