Went to see ‘Ama: An African Voyage of Discovery’ at the @BFI this weekend. What an absolutely unique and enlightening film that closely zooms in on the 90s British-Ghanaian culture, yet remains profoundly universal. Exploring the fear of death, search for identity and links between our ancestral traditions and modern culture, wrapped within a warm family tale with elements of magical realism. Directed by @KwesiNewsLive and Nii Kwate Owoo, and featuring @epiphanytheart, this film poetically reveals facets of Britain rarely seen on screen. Even though I grew up a teenage girl in a different corner of the world, it resonated deeply with me.
