@vijayvaani @narendramodi @rsprasad The Bill is for a limited purpose i.e. to enforce the verdict of the SC. 100 cases of TT in less than four months after the Judgment. It shows both contempt for SC and disregard for Scripture and MPLB encourages them by saying that despite Judgment the practice would continue.

Personal Law Board opposes any financial help to ex wife beyond 3 months Iddat, though she be in no position to keep her body and soul together. In 1986 this was the demand which was conceded by govt. Now same people are asking who will pay wife if the man using TT goes to Jail.

@NancyJha @emanin If this declaration has failed to stop TT and more than 100 cases of TT have already happened and women thrown out of their homes, shall we sit quiet and not enact a law to punish these offenders who show disregard to Quran and disrespect to Supreme Court

Fight is not between BJP and Congress. Fight is between Muslim Women who rightfully demand dignity and equity and Personal Law Board who wants to keep them oppressed and suppressed through triple talaq. Today Board praised Congress and other parties for stalling the Bill.

@NancyJha @emanin Please read the history of Muslim Jurisprudence. Triple Talaq has always been treated as a criminal act. Caliph Umar who had allowed this divorce used to award 40 lashes as punishment something that is not disputed even by Personal Law Board

@ndtv Manniya Mamta Ji Triple Talaq was used for politics in 1986, SC verdict was overturned, sum of Rs 273 p/m given by court to a 64 year old destitute divorcee was snatched from her to please Personal Law Board. You know it as you were a member of that Lok Sabha

Those who reversed the Supreme Court judgment in Shah Bano case used their full strength today to stall the bill that seeks to make triple talaq a punishable offense. One must marvel at this peerless record of denying justice to poor victims of TT to please Personal Law Board

In May 2017, Personal Law Board had promised to Supreme Court to launch a campaign against triple divorce and socially boycott the wrongdoers. But 100 divorces later they seem to be working overtime to save the offenders from any punishment

Big Thank You to PM Sri Narendra Modi for the passage of Muslim Women Bill in Lok Sabha. Centuries old evil BIDAT that terrorized Muslim Women is now a punishable offense. A short law but giant leap for gender justice.
