The youngest producer on the West End right now is a black woman with one hand and the daughter of Sudanese immigrants. That makes me equally as happy and proud as the fact that it is me. 🚀🎭
In more important news, I opened my first West End show today and the West End’s youngest ever female producer is saying goodnight in PJs that say ‘avo good sleep’ and have little snoozy avocados on. 🥑🎭
(THAT’S ME)
“That’s the hard work paying off” - my mum on FaceTime holding a copy of
@ObserverUK
and looking at her daughters face.
Little black girl, little disabled girl, honestly anyone being told the arts is not for them, the face says it all. I promise there is a home for you here. ❤️
So happy to be associate producing Death Drop! This West End debut makes me the youngest female producer on the West End (joint youngest). Big things! 🚀
Genuinely crying at this. When I was younger there was a story about offcom getting complaints because parents said a presenter with one hand (like me) was “scaring their kids”
Fuck them - representation matters ❤️
🚨EXCITING NEWS🚨
Our NEW CBeebies House presenter, George will be starting soon! ❤️
He loves cooking and dancing, and he can't wait to be your friend.
🥘🕺🤗
Indulge me for a moment, it’s been a very surreal month. My year started with
#TheStage25
& talking about Black joy on BBC ONE!
I am very aware of my age but I've worked in theatre for 5 years & to have my work recognised is really special. 💛
So I’m one of
@TheStage
’s 25 theatremakers they “believe will go on to great things over the next quarter-century”
This is so incredibly surreal. To be one of these names is beyond an honour.
Thank you all for everything. Truly.
#TheStage25
Hello. Here is news. I am Theatre Producer
@sohotheatre
(part-time) for a little while.
She's the 21-year-old Theatre Producer in the 21-year-old 21 Dean Street theatre in 2021. TWENTY-ONE.
This is not news to me but yay! 🥳
Theatre Producers! I wanna do a thing in July. Hosting an open and honest space for us to speak about cashflow and the current state of raising. I’ll host it, it’ll be an evening but reply here if you’d like to be there. Let’s find some solutions, you aren't alone. 💗
Today I have the pleasure of being in an audition room without a single white person. The rarity of this and the commonality of the opposite is truly stunning and really really joyful. 💚
Took the day off producing to go graduate from
@LSEnews
! 👩🎓
Now the holder of a BSc in Social Anthropology with First Class Honours. 🎉
It’s been a busy three years!
#Classof2022
Equating diversity in actors and diversity in theatre is a common thing and it really needs to stop. Show me offstage stats too please because we need to be open about and investigate the lack of diversity offstage as well as on! Don’t stop supporting actors just let’s do better?
Also a nod to the absolute Black excellence on show during
#BigNightOfMusicals
which is truly something to behold. Thinking about all those little kids who will see themselves represented jubilantly prime time on the BBC. 💪🏾
Representation really is everything.
I am so incredibly happy and proud to announce 'The Wiz'
@hopemilltheatre1
from Nov 24th to Jan 16th & to be Co-Producing it. Here is a blog I wrote which captures what I hope to say more than any tweet.
Let’s get wizzin’! 💚
Since I’m co-producing two shows at the moment I should say it’s nice to credit both co-producers where you can. I really don’t want to seem petty or ungrateful but as a black woman im very used to erasure so it’d be fabulous to avoid that!
Come see Dick Whittington & The Wiz!
I officially commissioned a musical and yesterday (on the deadline) the writers sent me the full first draft and 16 demos. It's the big things sometimes.
This is surreal (you’d think I’d stop saying that now)
All I’ve ever wanted to do is make great theatre. Thank you to the great people that have helped that happen & to those who will in future. There is more to do. ✊🏾💚
To be among this talent is an honour. Thank you
@the
BBTAs
On my bus home tonight, I sat next to a lovely older black woman. She pulled out a programme and she’d been to see Get Up Stand Up. Naturally, I asked if she enjoyed it. She loved it, she gushed about the actors, creatives, producers, and audience who danced along... (1/5)
This a really well written argument and I would absolutely welcome a woman in that job particularly Indhu but let’s talk about this quote:
“She won’t fail because she will know that is simply not an option.”

DEADLINE: Thur 9th 💀
Sat in auditions for one week and can tell you now that this “we can’t find the talent”/“everyone is booked” stuff is nonsense.
It’s a conscious choice. As is your creative team looking like a polar bear in a snowstorm.

I can’t tell you how many people it takes and how much work you put into sharing news the right way and with the impact you want. It’s so much and it’s a moment for the team and the audience. To spoil that is heartbreaking to see and for what? You get nothing. Disappointing.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is planning to sell the Other Palace Theatre, which he bought six years ago to develop new musicals, as part of a "strategic move" to focus on London's West End
“I look forward to the day representation on & off stage isn’t surprising, when you look at any show & find people like you doing what you want to do… there is a place for you to call home, no matter who you are.”

Yesterday we opened
@deathdropplay
in the West End and it was bloody sensational.
So much love for the amazing bunch of producers on this who make me feel like I’m right where I belong.
And yes I chose this picture because it’s proves I’m hilarious. 🎭💛
Edinburgh Accommodation
We’re so excited to be able to offer Pay What You Can accommodation this Fringe. We have a four-bed shared flat with spaces across the month and want to offer it out. We'll get back to you within a week to let you know the outcome.
A note about theatre chats currently, as a producer trying to change things for the better I'd love if we had more conversations & less "producers are the problem".
We are not a monolith & it's tiring to see people constantly grouping us as the problem instead of specifics...
“I'd rather do me so you can do you.
You're following the crowd, I'd rather break rules.” 💛
An incredible day
@NimaxTheatres
Lyric and an amazing to be part of! Love you team!

I cannot explain to you how happy this picture of my parents next to my face on a wall makes me. It’s such an honour to make these amazing people proud. 🥰✨
This has officially been one of my favourite days. Thank you everyone and to be among so much news is an honour. As always, I love my job and I can’t wait to ease on down the road.
Thank you. I am as excited as you if not more so. ❤️🧙🏾♀️

The Wiz (our Wiz) is in the V&A! 💚
Read my caption for why I care so very much.
Catch Re:Imagining Musicals at the V&A until Nov 27th! And see the creation of The Wiz video in the Theatre and Performance section!
I've said it to enough people and it's getting traction. I wanna do a little cabaret night for producers because I know some of you can sing and PERFORM.
Anyone wanna give me a venue for a night of "The Producers: No, not that one"? 👀
"The future of the West End" –

Haha please don’t stare at my lack of a left hand. It’s really rude and I am already self conscious about it.
And no it’s not kids, always adults.
Kids just ask. Adults gawk.
PRODUCERS! THEATRE PEOPLE!
If you feel up for brainstorming something DM me ya number and I’ll start a WhatsApp group, or reply if I have your number! If you don’t, that is totally valid. Either way, have your favourite food and breathe. ❤️
I just can’t sit still for two minutes
Heyo! As I’m returning to Twitter I’ve made some choices about controlling my space and accessibility, one of those choices is closing my DMs. I did this for a few reasons including inappropriate messages but here’s a contact form & email on my website: 💛

TODAY I GOT LOTS OF GOOD NEWS! So I’m going to take this opportunity to embarrass myself by telling you that good news dance parties are a common occurrence for me, enjoy this clip of me proving I cannot dance... 🥳😂
This too shall pass, there is an end. ❤️
We've been going through this for so long and it is easy to forget that. But we aren't dealing with the Spanish flu as we were in 1919. It is horrible right now, it feels like déjà vu but I can promise you that it WILL end. Sending love.
I think today is amazing. Closed FOUR creative negotiations, signed off a big thing, got to take care of sweet doggo Cosmo AND I'm going for fancy tasting menu dinner tonight with the person I love. Just all round good. 😊
2023 vs 2020
Co-Producer on Bonnie & Clyde vs Associate Producer on Death Drop.
Same theatre, hat, stupid smile, & inability to reach my name.
Thank you
@dan_looney
& Adam for opening a door. Congratulations to everyone
@dlapgroup
and
@bonnie_clydeLDN
on this amazing show. ♥️
Her parting words to me were “all the best for the future, keep doing what you do” mine to her were “I hope you get Mamma Mia tickets.”
Clearly got sent a sign today ♥️ (5/5)
I used to get the train from Eastleigh* to London on a Wednesday or Thursday when I was starting out so I could see two shows around meetings for jobs I rarely got.
Next week is my 7th West End opening as a producer/GM. Very grateful to be here because, not in spite, of who I am.
I cut my little hand while cooking yesterday and while showing my boyfriend this morning I noticed something… I give you Handy Potter, the boy who lived.
Pals, The Wiz is in tech at present and though the answer to “How are you?” is “It’s tech”, holy moly these creatives. You better book because honestly the TALENT in these rooms. 💚
Look and listen, I started this programme as a fringe producer and I’m now the youngest producer on the West End and co-producing a dream show (The Wiz) - yes, I’m incredible at my job but BTG opened doors.
If you’re wondering if you should, this is your sign to apply. ❤️
On Friday applications will open to find the next cohort for the Bridge the Gap producer programme‼️We're looking for 10 producers from under-represented backgrounds to join a year-long programme of workshops, mentoring and access to commercial producing. More details to come! 🎉
Thinking a lot about the fact that every time I get introduced as a producer to someone who doesn’t know me they ask who I work for. Because the assumption is that it cannot be myself.
In possibly one of my favourite London moments, I just saw two people sat outside an M&S food eating tiny pots of desert and overheard one of them sat “It’s weird but it is a pretty good first date.”
I wholeheartedly endorse this relationship. Aw, love. ❤️
So genuinely overwhelmed by how many people have said such kind things about my provocation at the UK Musical Theatre conference. Thrilled it chimed with people.
Thank you, I love public speaking, I love being a nerd. I’m going to publish my notes tomorrow!!
It's affecting my life enough now: I'm not in love with you or obsessive, I just have a strangely good memory.
Calm down. You're not special, my brain is. 😇
