#UsdanPetTips As weight-loss medications like Ozempic grow in popularity, the Pet Poison Helpline has reported an increase in cases where pets with diabetes are accidentally given these drugs instead of insulin, resulting in potentially life-threatening complications. These mix-ups typically occur because both medications are stored in the refrigerator and can look similar. Ozempic’s autoinjector pen, in particular, is sometimes mistaken for insulin, especially by caretakers unfamiliar with the medication. 💡 How to Prevent Medication Mix-ups: · Store human and pet medications in separate, designated locations. · Clearly label your pet’s medications or keep them in color-coded containers. · Explain your pet’s medications and dosing instructions to anyone who might care for your pet. · Keep all medications out of reach of pets and children. · Double-check the label before administering any medication to your pet.
