Exactly 4 years ago, I was introduced to the world of Ultramarathons. Despite the COVID wave and winter Delhi pollution, I trained hard for a 100 KM run for the entire year. On the day of the ultramarathon, something felt off, I was the last finisher, and I struggled throughout the run. 2 days later I figured I was COVID +ve all this while. I grew up a child with severe allergy-induced asthma. Diwalis were hard. The change of seasons meant weekly pulmonologist visits and courses of inhalant steroids. Never in my wildest dreams, had I imagined that I would one day run for 16 hours non-stop with a lung infection. Running ultras was never a part of the plan when I started, I just wanted to be able to run 5 KM without stopping and wanted to just stop feeling weak every year when the seasons changed. I have struggled with self-doubt throughout my life and I continue to, but, that first 100K serves as a reminder to keep taking plunges. I took my 2017 New Year resolution not in January, but in May, when I finally decided enough is enough and it changed my life forever. I know people are demonizing NY resolutions and I get it, it's too much pressure, but I want to reach out to anyone who feels trapped by their circumstances, please take that first step, it's okay if it does not happen on 1st Jan. More importantly, dream small, do your 5K.

I saw virat’s O’cean flavoured water ads. I can bet he will never consume it. 1 glass of this will cost you 100 calories. Don’t try to supercharge your water and complicate stuff. If you replace your regular water intake with this, you can easily gain 1 kg weight every week. Stay basic, drink water, add namak if you sweat a lot.

Day 15/100: Poor sleep because of movie with friends last night, but managed a 12K with 2 friends. I am not much of a group-running type of person, but once in a while, it feels great! Ozempic/WeGovy (GLP-1 analogs) is the new rage to cure obesity, if we look at history it is clear that it’ll have no impact on the rise of obesity! Nature of jobs changed so gym subs, pedometer etc were invented, but we as a whole only became more inactive! Insulin delivery systems were created to manage diabetes whereas diabetes only grew exponentially. Countries that are richer (abundance of food) are unhealthier! SSRIs were invented to cure depression, and depression has only risen after it. This is the ultimate health paradox!

You inhale 4x more air while running than when you are at rest, so it's better to sit at home than go out and run in dirty air, right? Wrong! If you are not working out because you are scared of a poor AQI, you are sacrificing dollars for pennies.

Day 11/100: Tough day but we survived . Was sore from yesterday’s strength session and had less than usual sleep to top it. First 3Ks felt unsustainable, after 5K a switch flipped internally and felt unstoppable. Overall fine with the day. Sleep Score: 82 Dist: 11 KM Time: 1h 17 min 02 s Avg HR: 164 bpm Total Dist so far: 73K
