Before my parents married, my dad promised to help my mum complete her higher education. After the marriage, he said no, and a neighbor had to intervene before he agreed. Lost all his source of income years later and she carried the family for decades with that degree.
When my mum started working, my dad said no, she left & went to find her way. They reconciled 3yrs after and when my dad died and the extended family started showing us shege, her successful law practice was why we didn't beg.
