- Winner: Best Pro Night (Chortle Awards) - 'The most wonderful comedy night in the world' - Katherine Ryan - MC'd by
@JamesGillComedy
- New ABC pod out now!
Brett Goldstein winning three consecutive Emmy nominations for Best Comedy Supporting Actor is extraordinary and can't be celebrated enough. As Conan O'Brien once said: "If you work hard and are kind, amazing things will happen." This dude is living proof and we love him so much.
Sending much love to the firebrand that is Rhod Gilbert. Here he is at Always Be Comedy, seemingly screaming at the crowd for giving him a standing ovation. Wishing the great man a full and speedy recovery. Always so lovely, warm and authentically Rhod. ❤️🏴
We are sorry to see the end of Mock The Week. A lot of our pals worked on that show, which proved such a breeding ground for terrific comedy talent. What's more, it was a force for good for the live circuit too, encouraging folk to check out telly stars in the clubs and on tour.
WE WON! WE WON! WE WON THE CHORTLE AWARD! HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED. And huge thanks to all audiences & comedians who make ABC rock. And special thanks to the people's prince Tim Lewis, and all the staff across Three Cheers. Let's all celebrate:
Dream launch night at Always Be Comedy at Sambrook's Brewery in Wandsworth Town. Big thanks, all. Especially to Tim, Sikisa, Brett, Aisling, Milton (
@themiltonjones
), MC James Gill. We've many more shows at ❤️
This room has had the lot. Jack Dee. Sara Pascoe. Mickey Flanagan. Alan Carr. Kevin Bridges. Nish Kumar. Katherine Ryan. And on and on. We don't say this lightly: Josh Pugh will be remembered as one of the greats. A flawless set. The sky's the limit? Josh is intergalactic. 🚀
The maestro Rhod Gilbert with a standing ovation for a preview at Always Be Comedy last night. Be sure to snap up tickets for upcoming tour "Rhod Gilbert & The Giant Grapefruit"
We mourn the passing of super Lizzie Knowles. Lizzie was a champion of comedy and an integral, beloved part of the Tuesday Night Club community. She had a big heart and an even bigger smile and will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet her. Thoughts are with Rob. 🩷
At the risk of toe-curling virtue signalling, it has been brought to our attention that we have ensured more than 100 comedians have been paid since we launched our online shows in April. And that obviously wouldn't be possible without you guys buying tickets. So thank you. 👍❤️
Wow. The new cover of Vanity Fair is *stunning*... But, fret not (!), pic 2 - we're all ruddy bloody pals really! Banging Sunday night Always Be Comedy. 🩷🤌
We are confident that Bob Geldof would be delighted with this note-perfect rendition of the 80s classic Do They Know It's Christmas? Thanks to the maestro Harry Hill and the Always Be Comedy audience (props to young Louis for nailing Bono) 🩷💛
Brett Goldstein. Won the Emmy on Wednesday. Flight landed from LA Friday afternoon. On stage with Always Be Comedy in Wandsworth Town on Friday night. That's a true friend.✌️❤️
A few of you got in touch to ask if we'll be ok. We've chatted with venue and, yes, Tommyfield will be ok which means we will be too. But it's really thanks to YOU supporting our online nights. We may even put on a *second* weekly Tommyfield night when possible...

Chris Ramsey! So great to have him back. Chris's first London gig in 3 years. Of course it was with Always Be Comedy. He's been a great friend down the years & it's wonderful to see him go from strength to strength (literally nearly crying here, FFS). Tour kicks off tonight! ❤️
Brett - always surprised by James's weirdly long right arm. And much fun corralling Steven into that first stand-up gig... ❤️ We've lots more shows at 🎟️
Thursday night dream team (L to R). Max Fosh, James Gill, Stephen Merchant, Kyrah Gray, Josh Widdicombe and, of course, Always Be Comedy's very own Tim Lewis. 🩷💛 (and, just out of shot, Iain Stirling)
Merry Christmas to all our regulars, semi-regulars, those who've supported us and enjoyed our shows. Here are four the best, taken at a recent Tommyfield show: Priya & Deep, Sasha and the big dog. See you all real soon! X
Rachel Fairburn. Josh Widdicombe. Stephen Merchant. James Gill. Nish Kumar. And, of course, Always Be Comedy's very own Tim Lewis. Phenomenal Always Be Comedy secret newsletter show. 🩷💛
Ticket money pinged over to
@homestartuk
; along with ABC's donation page, that's more than £4,500 raised from the Christmas Day gig. Heartfelt thanks again to the 213 acts who took part and all the audience members - eye-wateringly generous from all of you. X
Thanks for all your love, support, friendship and laughter this year (schmaltzy, yes, but hey). Happy New Year. We will see you soon. All our love. James & Tim ❤️
Happy New Year to each & every ABCer out there. We love you so much. Thank you & see you all soon either online or at The Tommyfield. Here's a few highlights (ie photos I could find before my wife slapped my phone out of my hands). Love James & Tim. ❤️
One of those special nights that will stay with you forever. Mark Watson preforming on a laptop outside Walthamstow vaccination centre fresh from having his jab. Ardal O'Hanlon knew the situation and so had gamely (and heroically) run long. Legends both.
Tuesday 12 March. Rachel Parris AND Rosie Holt perform... Extended sets of new material? Yeah. Nice and catchy way of putting it... Anyway, belting double header from two of the best. Always Be Comedy at The Tommyfield in Kennington. Tickets: 🩷💛
Big thanks to you all last night. Kevin Bridges, Tom Allen and Sikisa were terrific. But there was only one man of the match: our guy Tim Lewis. Scanning everyone upon entry, wiping down everything, changing mic covers between acts and much more. Put in such a shift. Comedy hero.
We've enjoyed many online comedy performances over this Covid period, but
@watsoncomedian
outside the Walthamstow vaccination centre using Natwest's WiFi is marvellous.
Last night my dad passed away peacefully. He had been ill for a while and I’ll miss him so much. As loving and supportive a father as you could ever hope for, I’m very grateful for the time we had

Long-term ABC regular Andy Tulip had one job tonight: take a couple of photos on behalf of ABC. We say he exceeded expectations. Two of our Golden Boys shredding it: Joel Dommett & James Acaster. And we've lots more shows at (Joel returns this Tuesday!) ❤
Rhys James on being accused of stealing material from someone who looked suspiciously like... Rhys James

Comedy perfection once again. And two hours of top entertainment for £3 is nuts. Huge thanks to you all - especially to the frankly remarkable Rachel Parris and Marcus Brigstocke. All shows
Tonight's gig sold out instantly. We've just had some late-notice returns. 8pm tonight: Sara Pascoe, Rachel Parris, Unlisted Comedian, MC James Gill. The Tommyfield, Kennington.
Tuesday chums for a delightful double. Brett Goldstein, James Gill, Roisin Conaty, Mike Wozniak and, of course, Always Be Comedy's very own Tim Lewis. Two PHENOMENAL audiences too. 🩷💛
Double show on a Monday - Always Be Comedy newsletter new material show with Joe Lycett , Nish Kumar and Amy Gledhill and a Steely WIP. Absolutely brilliant. 🩷💛
Right. £2942.50 pinged to charidee following Saturday's gig for
@KindlyLoudly
. Plus donations on the night, we sailed over the £3,000 mark. Heartfelt thanks to Ria Lina, Kerry Godliman, Elis James, Tim Lewis, Mel Giedroyc & to anyone who got involved.
Ken and Gill just wanted to get home. But then Woz and Catherine were all: "Please! Guys! Just one pic!" No idea who the guy on the left is... Wonderful photo-bomb from inside the venue. Top marks.
Bill Bailey on Always Be Comedy debut. Was a lovely moment when he walked on. On the newsletter we'd put how we "strictly" couldn't give any clues. And we think some people were expecting Stacey Dooley. Anyway, Mr Bailey dishing out what is known in comedy circles as a "shoeing".
We are characteristically very excited that the great
@frankieboyle
is doing a run of online shows with us: Sundays & Mondays from 23 August. 8pm. Live & online. Please visit to find out more. ✌️
Wednesday night vibes. Joe Wilkinson. Bill Bailey. Amy Annette. Mark Lamarr. Alexandra Haddow. Sophie Duker (just out of shot ie on her way). Tim Lewis. Whatever this show is - a comedy drama about disgruntled anglers? - please commission it immediately. 🩷
How about that front row yesterday?! Jesus wept. Heavy lifting for 3+ hours. We salute you. Ken & Gill, Rich, Michelle, Kris, Tulip, Bensons, Adam & Dr Vic, the Greens, Emma & Big G, Petrina & Doug, Sara & Simon, Marty, Sarah, Scott & Amy, Stefania - show in, show out heroes.
