There is nuance to this decision and discussion, absolutely. But broadly speaking the Venn diagram of people who complain the loudest about homelessness and then lobby/advocate/vote against things that will help reduce homelessness is a circle.

The Manitoba government is buying apartment buildings as part of its plan to move people out of encampments and address homelessness. This is how you do it. Destroying shelters and displacing people who have no where to go is not. Well done, @WabKinew.

Congratulations to Glasgow for opening The Thistle, the country’s 1st safer consumption space. It takes a lot of courage to move forward w/ these projects when you’re battling misinformation & stigma. Kudos for adding this to your system of care for those struggling w/ addiction

Explain it to us like we’re 5 cause the math isn’t mathing Jailing people without housing is basically housing them but in a more expensive way, in crappier conditions, w/ WORSE outcomes. We KNOW supportive housing is a BETTER, cheaper option. Make it make sense. #homelessness

This is a very good example of the difference between talking the talk and walking the walk. Calgary desperately needs more housing and everyone knows it. But when it comes time to make the hard choices and think long-term….. This is very frustrating #housing #yyc
