I am begging so-called site neutral policy "experts" to stop comparing HOPD services to cups of coffee at chains v. independent coffee shops. In a world of poorly contrived policy analogies, this is one of the most destitute.

The weirdest thing about briefings on so-called site neutral payment policies will always be how proponents want to compare hospitals to competing coffee shops as though I won’t go to a better, local coffee shop and pay more for a quality latte instead of going to Starbucks.
