@vky5_ Depends on how many reads you need per second and what kind of latency. Dynamo was just easy af to setup, I didn’t think we had to worry about reads, and it’s not too pricey and the company is paying for it so I didn’t overthink it tbh

@vky5_ If a good software developer is just a software engineer, they’re not different things, just varying places on a spectrum of ability.

You got me doubting myself. Like maybe I jumped to dynamo too quick because we’re already using AWS. ChatGPT said: “- DynamoDB is fine as a lightweight, persistent cache for infrequent reads. - Redis is better for high-speed, high-volume, or frequently updated caching needs. - If unsure, try DynamoDB first. If it becomes too slow or expensive, switch to Redis.” This seems to meet our needs.

@kuberdenis @dreamworks2050 That’s not even close to raw that’s medium rare, you’re fine especially if it’s beef.

@vky5_ Saves on likely more expensive API calls for the same data. And not called too often. And it’s easy af to setup. So 🤷♂️ seems to work fine

@kuberdenis @ziademarcus If you’ve been in a manic episode for decades, it’s not an episode, it’s just your personality. Kanye is just straight crazy. Fuck many of his opinions but I think I love him anyway.

@kuberdenis Sometimes I know where a show is headed but I still wanna watch. Kanye is like that. I won’t be surprised, but I’ll still be entertained.

@vky5_ I’ve just used dynamodb because we’re already using aws and don’t have many strict requirements and it’s managed for us. I’m sure redis is super useful when you need it.

@zeroxjackson Ya I think it depends on the mom and the baby. And your level of interest. For me? With a full time job? I get about an hour a day if I’m lucky to devote to extra stuff. It’s a big change. But it put more hustle in me too… in a few years things will happen

@scheminglunatic Only insist on as much and the quality of evidence that is needed to make a warranted decision given the context. Then you can act and yet still be as careful as is reasonably possible.

@zeroxjackson Good for you man. I’m still jealous. Im about to go to bed and I’ve had maybe a half hour worth of free time to spend coding.
