Things just got tougher for climate alarmists. ๐ฑ Remember when Iceberg A-68 calved off Antarctica's Larsen C Ice Shelf in the summer of 2017? The climate chicken littles blamed it on global warming. ๐ Well, unfortunately for their alarm, a study published in Geophysical Research Letters (GRL) in November has cast some serious doubt on that claim. MacKie et al. (2024) found: ๐ The break-off of Iceberg A-68 from the Larsen C Ice Shelf was ๐๐๐ statistically exceptional. ๐ฐ๏ธ There has been ๐๐ increase in size of the annual largest iceberg calving off of Antarctica since satellite measurements began in 1976. ๐ง Using a generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution model, it is revealed that there could, in a theoretical sense, be calving events that produce icebergs several times larger than anything observed in the 47-year-long satellite era, and even if that were to occur, such an event could not necessarily be tied to man-made global warming. These have already occurred throughout the Holocene (e.g., Bentley et al., 2005). ๐MacKie et al. (2024): ๐Bentley et al. (2005): Here's an excerpt from the new paper, The authors also underscore important dynamics about ice sheet behavior in that these kinds of calving events are indicative of healthy glacier advance and retreat, not necessarily ice sheet instability.

Despite these findings, the next time you hear โAn iceberg the size of Rhode Island broke off Antarctica last week,โ it will be blamed on your SUV.

The Golestan (Gรผlistan) Palace, also known as Rose Garden Palace; a former official Royal Qajar Complex in Tehran, Iran ๐ฎ๐ท Originally built during Safavid Dynasty in the historic walled city. Following extensions and additions, it received its most characteristic features in 19th Century CE, when palace complex was selected as royal residence and seat of power by Qajar ruling family. At present, Golestan Palace complex consists of 8 key palace structures mostly used as museums and eponymous gardens, a green shared centre of the complex, surrounded by an outer wall with gates. Golestan Palace is one of the most valuable cultural heritage of Iran. Of course, you can find this stunning building complex at the UNESCO World Heritage list. It was built in 16th Century CE, renovated in 18th Century CE, and finally rebuilt in 1865 CE. The complex exemplifies architectural and artistic achievements of Qajar era including introduction of European motifs and styles into Persian arts. It was not only used as governing base of Qajari Kings but also functioned as a recreational and residential compound and a centre of artistic production in 19th Century. Through latter activity, it became source and centre of Qajari arts and architecture. The building has many beautiful gardens, royal buildings and art exhibitions rooms. The institution's exhibitions can also be seen as eloquent examples of intercultural dialogue, presenting the surviving material heritage of the fruitful interaction between Persian-Iranian and contemporary (Western) European art of 18th-19th Centuries CE. Golestan Palace represents a unique and rich testimony of architectural language and decorative art during Qajar era represented mostly in the legacy of Naser ed-Din Shah. It reflects artistic inspirations of European origin as earliest representations of synthesized European and Persian style, which became so characteristic of Iranian art and architecture in late 19th and early 20th Centuries. As such, parts of the palace complex can be seen as the origins of the modern Iranian artistic movement. Delimitation of the palace compound includes all elements which convey Outstanding Universal Value of the property. Although, the Qajari architectural heritage of Golestan Palace has been much richer in the past and considerable proportion of the palace complex has been demolished and replaced under successive rulers, all elements which have survived until the present time are included within property boundaries. At present the property is free of any acute threats, especially those which could compromise the visual perspectives into wider landscape from within the palace compound. To ensure that this situation is retained in the future, emphasis should be given to the protection of visual perspectives from the inside of Golestan Palace and Gardens. The characteristic architectural structures of the Qajari era retain authenticity in design and layout and have preserved exceptional interior and exterior faรงade decorations. All conservation activities carried out have paid due respect to authenticity of material, design and workmanship. In addition, palace complex has partly retained its use and function, in particular those galleries and wings that were created as museums during Qajari times. Many of residential, representative and administrative rooms have changed purpose but palace is still used as a location for contemporary state activities. It is probably setting of Qajari monuments that has changed most significantly during Pahlavi times and authenticity of which is only retained in fragmented form. While this situation is acceptable in light of demonstrated authenticity in material and design, it is essential that all remaining references to historic Qajari setting of the property are carefully managed and preserved. ๐ฅยฉ simple.history_ (IG) #archaeohistories

Bureaucracy is maddening. I don't relate to people who aren't infuriated by it.
Elon Musk: Defeating bureaucracy is almost as hard as breaking physics. โThe challenge is overcoming bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is perhaps the penultimate boss battle.ย The ultimate boss battle is defeating entropy, which physics tells us we can't. The second-hardest battle is defeating bureaucracy.ย That's how difficult it is to improve government.โ Source: WELT Economic Summit, January 28, 2025
