For those who are wondering, here was my solution to homework that let students and families decide what learning at home would look like. Always read (that's your drink at the restaurant) and then pick something else. That's all. #satchat

@TheNextSummitA1 There are four things that I got at the same time that were simple and basic but still game changers: - @boyscouts hiking socks - @KEEN hiking shoes - @CamelBak bag for water, snacks, and first aid kit - Trekking poles for myself or to give to others

@psbrewer4 @DanielPeak16 @heymrsbond The fact that this has comments and reactions shows that it is not a text message to someone's phone. It is definitely from a messaging feature through an LMS or similar tool.

@eduleadership I took courses in my undergrad for elementary education on cognitive psychology, child psychology & development, and community psychology, among others. My master's degree in administration included courses on organisational psychology. I didn't realise that this isn't the norm.

@MrsPete23 I've never understood the point of thank you notes if I have already said thank you in person or in a phone call. Did the teachers say thank you when the gift was given?

@eduleadership @S_Oberle My point is that, at least in Illinois, art and music are not electives for K-8 and PE is not an elective for K-12. They are "specials" because they are taught by content specialists, not generalists.

@S_Oberle @eduleadership It isn't a zero sum game. We can teach literacy and numeracy and arts and health and fitness.

@eduleadership Depending on where you live, courses like art, music, and PE are not electives. They are core curriculum required for the elementary level in Illinois and PE is required all the way through high school.

@FixingEducation Every district? No. Large unit districts? Absolutely. Also, some of these are statutory roles based on student population / demographics.
