Well, I just tried to ask Olivia Wilde a question about Shia LaBeouf at the DON'T WORRY DARLING press conference, but the festival wouldn't let me.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't consider someone literally explaining — in detail — their reasons for firing someone and that someone then writing a lengthy and detailed response (with evidence) saying that they weren't fired, as "tabloid gossip". Again, maybe it's just me.
Adam Driver says he’s “very proud” to be in Venice to be a “visual representative of a movie that’s not part of AMPTP and to promote the SAG leadership directive, which is an effective tactic”

It's official: I've had it confirmed that the donkey on stage with Jimmy Kimmel was NOT Jenny the donkey. Sorry to disappoint my fellow Jenny fans. My source informs me that "Jenny is still relaxing in Ireland"

Genuinely now comparing photos of Jenny with the donkey on stage at the Oscars to see if it's the same animal. I mean, I very much doubt it and this a very silly mission, but they did an AMAZING job of finding an almost identical looking donkey.
Another round of applause for Villeneuve, this time when he encouraged everyone to see DUNE on the big screen, on IMAX. "When you watch it on a big screen, it's like a physical experience - we tried to design a movie that will be as immersive as possible."

Still buzzing from Dune. Not sure I've been as 'WHOA, AGAIN!' as this after coming out of a cinema since LOTR: Return of the King (ok fine, without the ending).

Well the Paddington in Peru trailer looks absolutely delightful. Phew. Marmalade sandwiches all round to the good people at StudioCanal. A double helping to Olivia Colman for appearing as a guitar-wielding nun. Roll on November.

I think the main question from this year's Cannes Film Festival is: which billionaire has secretly bought MUBI and is financing its acquisitions spree? Bezos? Gates? Putin? MBS? At the last count they had acquired EVERY SINGLE FILM in Cannes.
Just asked Henry Cavill what he has coming up and, well...
- Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (out in April)
- Untitled Guy Ritchie Film with Jake Gyllenhaal (wrapped in Oct)
- Highlander reboot (which he says starts shooting in July)
- Warhammer 40,000
Disappointed to hear that

’s Chicken Run sequel is heading to Netflix. The return of Ginger and Rocky - and the sequel to the most successful stop motion animation of all time - is surely a big screen event.
She's back! More than 20 years after her dastardly pie-making plans were upending by Ginger, Rocky and co, Mrs Tweedy returns for more culinary fowl play in Aardman's Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.
Looks like The Banshees of Inisherin may be heading straight to the top of the all-important standing ovation duration league here in Venice. We’ve just sailed past 12 minutes.

Nice Weta Fact: The first project credited to 'Weta' was Peter Jackson's superbly bad taste and low-budget puppet comedy splatterfest MEET THE FEEBLES (which was made in 1989). Fair to say it's come a long way...

Some thoughts about Blackbird, now I’ve had a weekend to digest what I saw… It is bad. Spectacularly bad. Brilliantly, brilliantly bad. Exactly the level of bad that we’d been hoping for. But then somehow, incredibly, even worse than that.
