D-backs managing partner Ken Kendrick told Burns & Gambo the World Series run created an unplanned "economic windfall" that puts the organization in position to make "not insubstantial investments in the team."
Diamondbacks survive one of the wildest games of the season. Eugenio Suarez walks it off in the 10th inning on a ball off the wall.
Nearly four hours later, Arizona defeats Milwaukee 11-10
The Diamondbacks are crushing Taijuan Walker.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Gabriel Moreno and Joc Pederson have all gone yard, Moreno and Pederson going back to back.
Pederson encouraging the booing crowd too.
Standing ovation for Brandon Pfaadt, who was once again big time in a huge game.
5.1 innings with 1 ER, 3 H and 9 Ks
Joe Mantiply in with a runner on second
My word... Corbin Carroll blasts a pinch-hit walk-off home run off Kyle Finnegan.
The D-backs were down 6-0 and 8-2 but score five runs in the ninth inning.
9-8 win, remarkable comeback
Corbin Carroll has a 3-hit game and scored his second run on a Ketel Marte hit. Huge impact tonight.
Carroll for the time being is back over .200 at .202.
Corbin Carroll little league homer
Ketel Marte no-doubter
Joc Pederson to the river
Josh Bell homers on first pitch he sees in D-backs debut
Wild, wild start
Brandon Pfaadt is done after five innings with Scott McGough coming in.
Line: 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 6 Ks, 87 pitches. He stranded the bases loaded in the fifth.
D-backs shut out the Brewers 5-0
- Merrill Kelly threw 5 shutout IP before leaving with calf cramping
- The bullpen was perfect for 4 innings
- Jose Herrera hit his first career HR
-Arizona has 87 wins and a magic number of 5
- Braves, Mets and D-backs all won
"Elly De La Cruz singles on a line drive to left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Elly De La Cruz out at 2nd on the throw, left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to second baseman Ketel Marte to first baseman Christian Walker to second baseman Ketel Marte."
Madness
When healthy, the D-backs' rotation options will reportedly look like:
RHP Zac Gallen
RHP Merrill Kelly
LHP Jordan Montgomery
LHP Eduardo Rodriguez
RHP Brandon Pfaadt
RHP Ryne Nelson
LHP Tommy Henry
Brandon Pfaadt received a standing ovation after his outing.
Line: 5.2 IP, 3 ER (2 in 6th inning), 8 H, 2 BB, 10 Ks, 98 pitches
Stopper-type start after a tough couple days for D-backs starting pitching.
Diamondbacks updated bullpen (they’ll have to make a move):
Paul Sewald
Ryan Thompson
Kevin Ginkel
Justin Martinez
A.J.Puk
Joe Mantiply
Bryce Jarvis
Miguel Castro
Thyago Vieira
Just want to say thank you to anyone who followed, read or listened to our D-backs content this season.
Plenty more coming to break down a wild 2023 and the offseason ahead.
The Diamondbacks moved Eugenio Suarez to the clean-up spot for the first time this year with Christian Walker down.
Suarez just clubbed a two-run shot in his first at-bat today off Patrick Corbin.
Tommy Troy on getting drafted by the D-backs:
"I really wanted it to happen. So I couldn't be happier right now."
Troy said he grew up playing tournaments in Arizona and has been to Diamondbacks games.
Alek Thomas just fouled off 10 straight pitches in a 14-pitch at-bat and hit a home run.
Carroll, Moreno and Thomas have all gone yard twice in three playoff games.
This is getting absurd. Christian Walker and Gabriel Moreno just went back-to-back, and Lance Lynn is done.
Four home runs this inning for Arizona.
Moreno hit a ball to the away bullpen which was called foul after review. He stepped back up and homered.
Eugenio Suarez played all 162 games for the Mariners last season. He hit 84 home runs the past three years but also led the league in Ks twice in that span.
He had a good year defensively at third base and fills a hole in the lineup as a righty.
The D-backs have crushed Patrick Corbin today.
Arizona scored 7 runs in the second inning, all with two outs. 11 D-backs came to bat for eight hits.
9-0 D-backs
The Cubs were swept in Atlanta, so the D-backs can clinch a playoff berth tomorrow with a win over the Astros.
Arizona can also clinch tomorrow if the Cubs and Reds both lose.
