@Saraht0n1n Whenever I’m listening to a talk, I imagine a chart showing the percent of the audience that still understands everything they have seen so far vs what the speaker thinks that percent is. I’d bet the gap is usually 50% of the audience within 20 minutes.

@robinhanson Do you now think it is plausible that ancient civs reached the level of the Industrial Revolution?

@HamelHusain If it were a giant, troubling, Gundam mecha bot, it would be cool! And I would rush to the window too, and THAT I would forgive.

@julianboolean_ User dollars vote for the UX. Follow the money. 🙂
These Cursor literal children dummy dorks forked VSCode, added innovative and useful UX for leveraging LLMS, built trust with a notoriously suspicious and opinionated developer community, and now are worth ~$700mm EACH at 25 y/o smh

@julianboolean_ Yeah I love it, it’s brilliant, it’s powerful, but as a matter of design and approachability, it’s trash. Many such cases!

@julianboolean_ E.g., “in-place usage” with gptel would be better and exactly right for your need, but only if you already were conversant with emacs which has a terrible learning curve.

If there is a God, one safe bet is he or she or it reeallly loves two things: empty space and hydrogen. Because there’s a loooot of that. Hydrogen: 90+% of all atoms. With helium, that’s 90+% of the universe by mass. And space is full of space. I’m imagining this cat just leaning back, taking in a view of all the empty space and hydrogen, and thinking “yeah, that’s what it’s all about!” Maybe this thin layer of gunkier stuff on the surface of planets is, like, an accidental detail or necessary evil in the scheme for the Big Empty Hydrogen Viewing Zone.
