Apple is crazy out of touch from what devs put up with.
E.g., the ages we spend extracting Xcode xips or waiting for App Store to install it?
Apple engineers wouldn’t know, they get a command line tool called xia that downloads and mounts any Xcode in a fraction of the time
This isn't news to most of us, but it's interesting seeing a former Apple employee's eyes opened to the reality of the App Store.
I suspect that if it weren't for Apple's policy of not allowing employees to ship their own apps there would be greater internal pressure to fix this

It's been a few years now that Xcode can't handle projects with tens of thousands of Swift files, and I'm starting to lose hope that it's even a fixable problem.
Basically everyone in the industry has given up and are generating subsets of their module structure using Buck/Bazel

Fun fact! I was in both factions during my time at Uber, first “this Swift app idea is dumb”, then years later “I hate Objective-C”
All this time the Swift code growth continued. The continued problems and slow developer environment created two warring political factions within the iOS engineers at Uber. I’ll call them the Swift Zealots and the Objective-C curmudgeons.

After using it for a month, I can honestly say the 4 core 2020 MacBook Air is a great development machine.
I got a 16 inch Pro from work and yet I prefer the Air. The potential 'thermal issues’ that some reviewers mentioned aren't an issue for small/medium sized Xcode projects.

also a huge regression in Xcode 14’s build system this year; builds every module one at a time instead of concurrently when doing an incremental build
as you can imagine, Apple didn’t really take the feedback we gave them during WWDC week seriously until was too late to fix

Gotta admit, this is the most stable, more 'issue free' Xcode beta I've seen in a long time. If we could use it in production and ship to the App Store we probably would.
