Every feeling and emotion that we experience, whether it's joy and bliss and elation, or whether it's fear and jealousy and overwhelm, we have those emotions for a reason, they're basically just a signal to us of what's going on in the world.

Kids do NOT care about bad referees unless the adults do. Period. If the adults (coaches/parents) focus on the refs, then the kids will too. Whining, complaining and blaming referees is something weak minded people do. Referees, good or bad, are just part of the game.

How did SFA beat Duke? They did NOT focus on ‘winning the game.’ If they did that, they would lose 999/1,000 times. Instead they focused on winning moment. We need to win THIS rebound. We need to win THIS loose ball. We need to win THIS free throw.

I love Chris Paul. I can only imagine how disappointed he is for not being cleared to play - but he doesn’t show it. He knows it ain’t about him, it’s about the team. He is coaching and cheering from the bench with the same effort he plays with. THAT is leadership.

Here’s a list of things screamed during youth basketball that offer ZERO value. In fact, yelling them heightens confusion, anxiety & indecision: Pass! Shoot! Move your feet! Bend your knees! Over the front rim! Follow your shot! Don’t reach! Grab the rebound! Play D! Get open!
