During his time, Franz Liszt was thought to have sold his sold to the devil due the sheer virtuosity of his performances and compositions. With pieces like this (interpreted by the inimitable Evgeny Kissin), it's no wonder why.

The pervasive sorrow within Elgar's cello concerto, born from the horrors of World War I, is equal parts enchanting and emotionally taxing. Sheku Kanneh-Mason captured its essence with such immense force and mastery. Sublime.

@the_matelski Never seen this beforeβ€”I'd be curious if the rapid shift in extracellular [Na] affected pacemaker cells' ion gradients enough to induce an arrhythmia. If I remember correctly, phase 4 of the pacemaker cell action potential is via Na-driven "funny" current.

Stumbled upon a wondrous video this morning. Iconic conductor Herbert Von Karajan's last performanceβ€”Wagner's "Liebestod", the finale to his monumentally important opera Tristan & Isolde. And with Jessye Norman's incomparable voice as Isolde to boot.

@roseoleary58 If you haven't heard of @voicesofmusic, I highly recommend their rendition (along with everything else they've done). They perform baroque pieces on baroque instruments that have such a wonderful sound.

My favorite retelling of this masterpiece. Such a beautiful interpretation. "Works of art make rules; rules do not make works of art." β€” Claude Debussy
