Ok, journalism folks: why are we using the term "looting" in headlines? It implies opportunistic theft during a disturbance, but AFAIK there were no protests or disturbances in SF or Walnut Creek. These were targeted burglaries, not looting.

Am I the only Gen Xer who finds it surreal that a city government is counting on *skateboarders* to clean up downtown? My entire life, property owners and authorities have been chasing skaters away. I hope it works out! Just wild to see.

@EllenYChang Some years ago after a mammogram, I got a letter on a Friday saying they'd found something wrong. No further details, and no one answering the phone. I fretted all weekend long, and called first thing Monday-- only to be told the letter had been sent in error and I was fine.

Lost my father, Robert Gaiser, on Friday. His death was very unexpected; as recently as a few weeks ago he was hiking, kayaking, making plans for the future. Will probably post more later, but we are all devastated.
