I spotted this guy from a couple hundred yards away. I was already down wind, and there was good cover to hide behind, so I closed the distance to less than 40 yards to film him. He’s well on his way to being a dandy.

A camera (phone) doesn’t do this bull justice. He is huge. Standing more than 7 feet tall at the shoulders and weighing probably 1000 pounds, he is in his prime.

I saw this bull from a good distance tending a few cows as they slowly moved across a flat. I slipped down and set up on an intercept point. I was very lucky and he passed bye very close. He is a real dandy.😍

This bull is an absolute stud. He was injured fighting, and dethroning, the dominant bull in the area the night before I filmed this video. He disappeared shortly after this video and returned healed up the ready to fight a week later. He quickly reclaimed his territory and

The trip up was probably the hardest mile I’ve ever hiked. It is a very vertical climb in snow that varied in depth from just below my knees, to mid thigh: breaking trail the whole way. In the end, it was worth it.

This bull was killed in a fight with another bull this past season. I’d had occasion to film him several times, and after he died I searched for his remains and was charged by a large grizzly bear: Mistakes were made.
