Did it! 650k gravel bikepacking in 4 days across Spain with 6500m of elevation.
Some stupidly tough terrain and conditions, never imagined being that cold in the mountains.
Hugely mentally and physically tiring with 10-12 hours of cycling every day, but what an adventure!
Today I did the scariest thing I have done in my life. I summited the Eiger at 7.30am this morning after starting climbing in the dark with headtorches. We climbed the entire ridge and it was absolutely, unbelievably epic.
Yesterday morning I got up at 5am to do a solo gravel ride in the dark. I saw foxes, owls, deer, and not a single human being. I also saw the sun rise and bathe the forest in a golden glow, and I honestly couldn’t think of a much better way to start the weekend.
NEW BIKE DAY! Where have you been all my life!? Gravel biking is the most fun since the invention of cycling. Fact.
I think we’re going to be inseparable!
Still can’t believe this happened yesterday. Ironman 70.3 South American age group champion - took the age group win and was first female age grouper over the line with a PB of 4:34. Couldn’t be happier and so grateful to my coach
@sisuracinguk
for helping to make it happen.
My first ultramarathon in 11 years, full respect to those of you who go much further, that was a tough day! Chuffed to have placed 8th female overall in a field of 30 or so. Think I’ll leave it to the proper runners now though!
Everyone is commending Alistair Brownlee’s incredible 1:09 run at Dubai 70.3, but Anne Haug’s performance of 1:14 puts her only 1 minute off the USATF Olympic marathon qualifying time, which relatively speaking, is a better performance! (AB was 5 mins off)
Ironman Texas done! Super happy with scraping under 11 hours and a sub-4 marathon - didn’t expect that with a less than optimal build up. Great day, not sure I’ll be doing one again in a hurry though!
My 5th Ironman 70.3 World Championships, done! Off an 8 week training block after 8 months off structured training and no triathlon races in a year. I’ll take that. 5:26 on a brutal course! Thanks to all the amazing support out there!
Cycled 500k from Bordeaux to Toulouse and then across to the Atlantic Ocean over four days! Epic adventure, lots of memories made and some incredible food and wine along the way.
Now to see if my car has burned down at Luton airport 😭
First race back! Forgot my Garmin, had a very loose brake on wet roads, and tied my run shoes up while I had an energy gel in it. But still managed it! 4th lady and 16th overall in the Olympic distance including men. I’ll take that. 👌🏼
Chiltern 100 miler done ✅ and stoked to be the fastest woman! Didn’t see that coming, I felt pretty under trained but super happy with how the day played out 🤩
Genuinely the hardest day of my life yesterday. A 2am start to climb the savage Nadelgrat traverse, summiting 4x 4,000m mountains and an epic 14 hour day. Sketchy sections of climbing, supreme exposure, and some pretty dark moments. I don’t quite know how I got through it! 🙌🏼🏔
Very happy with a new 70.3 PB of 4:43 yesterday at Gdynia. I was 4th in my AG and 14th female overall including 10 pros - so apparently all the fast chicks were in my AG! But a great day with less than ideal prep. Now the World Champs countdown is on!
New one in the pool this morning. Woman in slow lane next to me moaning that I shouldn’t be going up and down one side of my lane.
Her: “If you do that you splash us, have some consideration for others.”
Me: “Er, it’s a swimming pool. You’re going to get splashed.” 😳🙄
Summit bragging rights owed on the Dufourspitze today. 2am alarm, 3 hours of climbing in the dark with head torches, 20km covered with 2400m of vertical ascent. In total, 11 hours of climbing and I can’t feel my legs. What. A. Day.
Today will forever be known as the day I cycled 75k with one gear 🤣
Realised as soon as I got on that I’d forgotten to charge the SRAM battery but thought I’d see how I get on. Turns out it’s quite tiring, but cake saved the day 🫶
Eventful weekend! Didn’t expect to end up in A&E with 6 stitches in my arm yesterday, but nothing ventured nothing gained, and all that! Could use some MTB skills though 🤣🤪
What a day! Heavy rain, choppy sea, and a year of running niggles.
In general pretty happy with 5th in AG and 17th female overall, and a time of 4:47.
I‘ve also been self-coaching for the past 10 months, and was faster than last year despite having a coach - I’ll take that!
So happy to take 2nd in my age group and a PB at Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg today. Huge thanks to my coach
@sisuracinguk
for supporting me, I’m so excited to see what the rest of the season holds!
I’m stoked to reveal my new bike for 2019! Massive thanks to the team at
@IrideUK
who have been working hard to make this happen. The Shadow is crazy fast and I’m the first in the UK to be riding it! Bring on the racing...
So happy with 3:17 at Manchester Marathon today. A huge PB and 15th female in senior cat. The hard working is paying off
@IntelliTri
, thanks so much as always!
I did a thing!
Crossing the Namib desert on horseback was probably one of the rarest, most incredible experiences of my life.
So a tattoo of the GPX route, along with the crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn (and its coordinates), would forever remind me of the adventure. 🏜️
Yesterday on the Aguille du Chardonnet. A tough day for me mentally, I felt uncomfortable & stressed for the majority of the climb. Solid Type 2 fun, but it’s these kind of days that build resilience - it’s too easy to pick comfort and safety over discomfort & risk. Embrace it!💪🏼
Absolutely incredible day. Hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life but after 8 hours of climbing and 1600m of ascent I stood on top of Europe, and ticked off an epic bucket list experience. Beyond stoked.
Day 8 and still absolutely loving this life. I haven’t been in a building for 8 days, sleeping under the stars with no signs of civilisation. So special.
My new man, think he’s the one 💕. So happy to have rescued this beautiful 2 year-old ex-racing greyhound and to give him the best home ever. Probably the sweetest dog I’ve ever met 🥰
Turns out that three months of zero swimming makes very little difference to swim fitness or technique.
3k in the pool this morning - no slower than when I was swimming 4x a week 💪🏼
Triathletes, you’re wasting your time 😆
Day 2 of Geneva to Milan - 115k and 2200m of climbing up Switzerland’s second highest paved road, the Nufenenpass! Big change in climate, going up to 2500m at altitude, but another cracking day in the saddle with some good company and great coffee. ☕️
@Ride25World
Crossed the border into Italy today and started the day in rain, ended it in the sunshine! 152k of smiles and good spirits. What an awesome day 👌😎☀️
@Ride25World
Forgot how much racing hurts! My one and only race of the year yesterday at Turkey 70.3, not quite the run I wanted but still managed to come away with a podium finish.
#seasonopenandclosed
Super happy to take 2nd in my AG and 5th female overall today at Ironman 70.3 Florida and take a
#IM703WC
slot! Thanks to my amazing sponsors and my awesome coach
@sisuracinguk
- this is just the beginning!
And this is why triathletes are dull AF. During my best season ever which culminated in becoming a 70.3 age group champion, I drank wine, ate pizza and cake, and took whole weeks off training. Life is important to for long term happiness and health.
Couldn’t be more excited to announce my partnership with
@stompthepedal
for the 2021/22 race season.
Not only a good friend of mine but a very talented business woman,
@tarshwendt
has created an incredible brand that I am proud to be a part of.
I think I’m in love… ❤️🔥
Awesome first gravel event! 92k of beautiful weather, scenery, and Prosecco at the aid stations. Managed 5th female overall even though I took it easy! Big thanks to
@Elite_cycling
!
After ending up in A&E injuring myself mountain biking two weeks ago, I nearly cancelled my trip to Chamonix.
Glad I didn’t!
🏔 1x 4,000m mountain
🧗🏼♀️ 3x epic climbing days
🏃🏼♀️ 4x trail runs
🚵♀️ 2x mountain biking
🍕 3x pizzas
Goodbye mountains, hello next adventure! 🧭
Racing hurts! Definitely not race conditioned and after too much work/not enough training and run niggles for most of the year, I knew yesterday wasn’t going to be an epic result. Something to focus on from here!
▪️5th AG
▪️16th female overall (incl. pros)
